“An annual tradition!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Since our first visit to the Outer Banks in 1989, Kelly's has been a favorite! We have eaten at Kelly's in season, and out, and we have always been pleased with the experience! Whether we're there on a family summer vacation, sharing a meal with close friends in the winter, or enjoying a romantic dinner for two, Kelly's continues to be a go-to spot, every time! We love the atmosphere, and the food!

“Very nice restaurant with great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

We had been traveling all day and were actually looking for a place to stay when we saw Kelly's and decided to have dinner before getting a room. It was later than usual but Dusty and the others made us feel right at home. We had a cup of Creamy Crab Soup and the North Carolina Seafood Collection. Excellent! Flounder, scallops, shrimp and a crab cake. My traveling partner had a Creme Brulee for dessert and is now addicted. This restaurant is fancy but if you go in after traveling all day they still make you comfortable. Great start for an OBX vacation.. Thanks Dusty

Surprised we were seated immediately on a Friday evening without reservations, we relaxed in a cozy booth deciding what to eat. We were approached by a young woman who spoke broken English who tried to take our drink order. We asked for the wine list which confused her a little, but a waitress came over and we were well taken care of. The Seafood Bouillabaisse was delicious, I only wish there was a larger piece of bread for dipping. The Broiled Seafood platter was good, too. The Crème Brulee was big enough for 2 to share. Overall, the food was tasty and the atmosphere casual but nice. There is a lounge area where they have live bands, but we decided not to stay. It looked like a good place to see live music.
Oh sorry folks.....I've switched my responses to your reviews - ""Very nice restaurant with great food" & "Good food and friendly service". I made sure Dusty read her "atta-girl" so, I did take care of that!!
Now I'll respond to "Very nice restaurant with great food".
I'm so happy you had immediate seating - this is very nice when you're hungry!!
(Note: we do hope large groups will make a reservation) We're trying to work with the Dare County international programs this season and it's definitely been a learning experience for us all. Our hostesses should always seat our guests with both our dinner menu AND our extensive wine list.... I'm not sure what happened there so, thank you very much for your patience the night you came in. Even though we serve four different, freshly baked breads to our guests, I'm pretty sure your server would have been happy to get you another piece of your choice, so please don’t be shy, just ask!! Also, I'm very happy you had room for dessert - homemade, award winning and delicious they are!! Overall, I think you enjoyed yourselves and really hope you will dine with us again!! And yes, our lounge area is a great place to enjoy music and dance so, please come back!! Thank you for coming in and taking the time to write your review. BB

Thank you for your kind review. I'll make sure Dusty sees this.
We're celebrating our 29th summer and are so glad you've finally come in and enjoyed yourselves. We serve dinner nightly from 4:30 to 10:00 pm 364 days a year and we welcome our guests comfortably and casually dressed ("OBX formal" includes sandals!!). We just want you to come in, relax and enjoy a delicious meal with us. You can begin with our renowned homemade sweet potato biscuits and end with an award-winning homemade dessert.....and all the dishes in between are fresh, unique and delicious!! Hope you'll come back again soon - if not this year, then the next, and the next, and the next!

“Tired old place, must have been something in its prime.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

Well, Kelly's was an outer banks tradition . Now the old place has a musty smell to match the tired menu and staff going thru the motions to serve the tourists and be done. You can tell it was a fine place from the expensive very eighties decor , they are trying to push the night club hard as I guess the restaurant is just not paying the bills . The gift shop was kind of sad too but the old lady running it was so nice we bought some Chinese made OBX souvenirs .. Feeling blue? Kelly's is for you..

“The Tradition Continues”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

We have been vacationing on the Outer Banks for more than 30 years, and we always enjoy their wonderful seafood dishes. I personally feel that Kelly's crab cakes are as good as I have had anywhere. We always make a point to visit Kelly's at least twice over the course of our 2 week trip. My wife is quite the cook herself, and she has incorporated Kelly's signature sweet potato biscuits as part of our traditional holiday meals back home. You owe it to yourself to make a stop at Kelly's on your next visit to the OBX; trust me, you won't be disappointed.
