Description: Established in 1972. "Southland", as we are known, is comprised of Southland Restaurant, Southland Snack Bar, as well a general convenience store and shopping areas. Southland Restaurant serves country-style lunch and dinner buffets, and a weekend breakfast bar (Sat/Sun). Enjoy "Breakfast Anytime" from our full service menu. We are well known for having "The Best Fried Chicken" and BBQ. Southland Snack Bar features fast made to order Carolina BBQ sandwiches and dinners. We serve premium Blue Bell brand hand-dipped ice cream. Southland serves locals and travelers alike, many of whom are visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We are a landmark stop that is part of many folks' vacation traditions. From the beginning there has been a lot of time, effort, pride, and care directed towards providing old-fashioned service, and the absolute highest quality, at the most reasonable price.

My wife and I stopped at Southland's on our way back home from our trip to the Outer Banks. We wanted to pick up some NC BBQ sandwiches. We both ordered pulled pork sandwiches to-go. The food itself was tasty, but the wait for the food was long because the place was very crowded. And with the crowd, space was at a premium.

My family decided to try out the breakfast buffet, after living in Moyock for several months. Found it to be much fresher and tastier, albeit with a few less items, than the Shoney's buffet we went to a few weeks ago. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant, the dining area was clean and not overly noisy, with a country look, and the food had a southern flavor to it, right down to the fried baloney slices that were offered. Plenty of fresh fruit, a yogurt bar, and country staple like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, couple types of grits, bacon and sausage, and some other items as well.

Nothing fancy, simply home cooked southern food. Very good breakfast buffet. Nice stop over on the way to the Outer Banks

We are locals and often stop after church for their breakfast buffet. It has everything you would want for breakfast and is almost as good as home-cooked. The price is under $10 and it's a pretty good deal. We also go on Wednesday nights for their "hog wild" bar-b-que special, which is VERY popular with the locals. Their homemade bar-b-que sandwiches are 1/2 price on Wednesdays and is really good!!

Went there a couple nights ago, wanting to try some southern BBQ. Very disappointed.
Portions were decent, not bad, sauce they offered, not a fan of, more watery vinegar base than anything, no real substance and I know this is how some like it, but it was just too watery. OK, for the meat, No way was this BBQ. A real stretch. No smokey flavor want so ever. It was tough, really tough pork and dry. Not the usual fatty soft meaty pork you would expect. And the pork was watery too, What is up with that???
We had breakfast here a couple days later and that was decent, but don't come for any BBQ if you want good BBQ, just not happening here.
