“Nice stop on our way to the beach.”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

We stopped in Mount Airy on our way to the beach to get out of the car and stretch our legs for a while. We booked two of the sqaud cars for a tour around town and really enjoyed it. We went to see the grantie quarry, Andy Griffith's childhood home, visitors center and other interesting sights. You can spend some time in Otis's jail cell on the property as well.

“A must do but somewhat disappointing”
Reviewed August 5, 2012 via mobile

It was $35 for a car load to ride in the 1954 squad car. DC was our driver who was very nice and knowledgeable. He said he and his brothers ran around with Andy but he also said he was only 66 years old so the math doesn't quite add up for him but maybe it does for his brothers. He drove us to the granite quarry and showed us some buildings where granite from the quarry was used. He drove us be the museum and shops and also Andy's house when he lived there (you can rent it as a room through the Hampton Inn). He blew the siren a couple of times which was kind of neat. The tour takes about 35 minutes.

“Squad Car Tour time well spent in Mt Airy”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

Our guide Jonathan was great! The photo op with the car and at Wally's Station and the Mayberry Courthouse was just perfect and all for $35.00. Small town prices I guess!

We had a great time on the tour and hanging out at Wally's drinking a NEHI!

Great afternoon fun in this really cool little town!

“A trip down memory lane”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

The Mt Airy Squad Car Tour Is a fun tourist attraction. The tour starts down at the "filling' station.". We were able to wait for our car in vintage rocking chairs with a grape Nehi, looking out on the Darling family truck. The tour was led by an experienced driver who made sure that we knew more about his town than it's Mayberry connection. He was knowledgable and friendly. The tour is a great introduction to the town and it's history.

“Make sure you take The Squad Car Tour !!!!!”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

This was our 1st time of going to Mt. Airy and will not be the last time. It is an awesome little town. Our highlight of the day would have to be the Squad Car Tour, Our driver was the best, he knew everything about Mt. Airy and took us all around the town. Loved that siren blasting as we left Wallys Service Station and headed out. I must say that it was the deal of the day $35 for the whole carload, and we rode in a 1963 Ford that looked as if it just rolled off the assembly line! We really enjoyed every minute of the tour and learnt so much about the history of Mt Airy and Andy Griffin. Looking forward to our next tour !!!!!!!!!!!!
