One could easily bypass this dining establishment hidden in the corner of a strip shopping center anchored by a major chain grocery store. But near the other end of the grocery store you'll find Thai Cafe nestled in. From the time you walk in the door and are warmly greeted by the host/ess, you truly feel welcome. We like the fact that you can order menu items seasoned as mild, moderate, thai hot, and OMG! The servings are very generous, and we almost always bring home a doggie bag, fix some rice the following day and have another meal with the entree(s). Every order is cooked fresh, and you'll not see limp or faded veggies that were cooked hours before. The white rice is perfectly cooked every time we've visited, either the Mt Airy location or the sister location in King. We've never been disappointed in anything we've ordered, and they package the take out orders well enough that they are still piping hot after a 15 minute drive home. They also have a small wine and beer selection at both locations, in addition to hot or ice tea. This is truly a hidden gem!

My wife and I found the accolades from the other reviewers about this restaurant to be perfectly accurate. Modest unadorned restaurant in a strip shopping center with fantastic food. Thai food is our favorite ethnic food, we could eat it five days a week, and we have even taken cooking classes in Bankok Thailand. This was some of the best Thai food we have eaten. We split a huge bowl of Tom Yum lemon grass soup with chicken; not to be missed. The Curry Duck was loaded with crispy duck, vegetables, and perfectly seasoned red curry; it was a huge plate. Our plate of Pad Eggplant with shrimp was also perfectly seasoned and huge. Our server, Ben, was also manning the cash register; he was as nice as can be.

The cheeserolls are like a spring roll with cream cheese...they are awsome. So are the chicken lettuce wraps. I didn't rave over the red curry (too many green peas and vegetables need to be cut smaller). However, the pad tai, golden noodles and tom kha soup are great and the portions are quite large. The waiter with the glasses (don't know his name ) is awesome!

This is by far the best Thai food I've ever eaten. I eat at this place often and have never had a bad meal!

I always used to go to Winston Salem for Thai, but ever since I found Thailand Cafe in Mount Airy, the restaurants in WS don't even compare! Its a very laid back/casual atmosphere and the service is excellent. The servers really know their knowledge of the food. The duck and curries are a must try and the tom kha soup! YUM!
