We loved all the info and items from "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Matlock". Is so neat to see the suit that Barney wore to the dances as well as Otis' hat!! Great for lovers of Andy Griffith--A Must!!!

“Small but enjoyable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

The museum is small and somewhat amateurish, with some items displayed too high or low to be easily viewed, mismatched furnishings, and overall a somewhat disorganized feeling. But still we enjoyed it.

The admission price was low, the staff friendly, and the museum has hundreds of items from his life. I especially enjoyed the props that appeared in the Andy Griffith Show, such as costumes and items from the Sheriff's office, and the statue in front of the museum is great.

Photos are not permitted inside (except the lobby), but you can Google for some. Please note that some photos posted here were NOT taken in the museum, they were taken other places around town and the captions don't always make that clear.

If you're a fan, it's worth a visit.

“Very enjoyable”

If you watched the Andy Griffith show, you will be mesmerized by all the memorabilia in this small museum. It is mostly pictures, newspaper articles and other written material. But it also includes information on some of the other characters in the show. I especially liked seeing some of the original clothing from the show, such as Barney's salt and pepper suit. There was also quite a bit of material from Andy's other endeavors, such as "No Time for Sergeants" and Matlock. His show was about a simpler time and you get to relive that for a short time in the museum. While in Mount Airy, be sure to take in the whole town ... it is beautiful.

“Interesting”

Interesting place to visit, great price to visit, was too bad we couldn't take pictures. Made you want to whistle! The exhibit on the Siamese twins was different but interesting as well.
