“Brilliant - we wish we could have stayed a week or longer”
Reviewed August 26, 2010

Our visit to this bed and breakfast was for only two nights and was part of a road trip of the States from Florida, up to the Great Lakes and back home from New York. We thought the website was interesting and the lovely photos of the huge garden and house were the deciding factor in our choosing it. Martha and Will, the hosts, couldn't have been more helpful, advising us of places to visit in Charlotte, and just being chatty and friendly. Hot weather meant the well-maintained pool was a real bonus. Breakfasts were delicious, presented attractively and plentiful! We were a party of four including daughters of 19 and 16, and stayed in two comfortable and cool rooms with a shared bathroom. Loved the cats, too! Altogether a great stay: no criticisms, no suggestions for improvement - Martha and Will did absolutely everything right! We'll be back!

We absolutely loved staying at Will and Martha`s !! We were served fresh fruits from their garden and homemade granola ! Delicious !!
The gardens were spectacular. We only stayed one night but will stay longer the next time around. And last but not the least Will and Martha are wonderful people !

803 Elizabeth Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place to unwind and relax during a visit to the Charlotte area. The hostess Martha was very informative, friendly, and gracious. The grounds of the inn are beautifully maintained with plant and flowers in abundance. I would recommend this inn without hesitation to anyone traveling.

I had stayed with Martha and Will’s Elizabeth Lane B&B for a week during a business trip. Will and Martha are special people. I really enjoyed meeting them and enjoyed our conversations. The B&B was a great alternative to the chain hotels. I'm very glad I stayed at the B&B and would do so again when visiting Matthews, NC. The house is clean and the food is marvelous. Martha and Will are great hosts. The house is clean; the queen bed is very comfortable. I remember waking the first morning and thinking that I hadn’t slept that good in years. My favorite part about the trip is taking to Martha, she's very funny. Martha and Will aren't imposing at all so you have plenty of space and come and go as you need and talk (or not talk) within your comfort zone.

Beautiful older house, spectacular grounds brimming with plants, trees and birds, immaculate room and wonderful friendly hosts who prepared an amazing breakfast and complemented it with fine conversation. My wife and I were sad to check out.
Not only will you not go wrong by staying here, you'll remember your stay fondly for quite a while afterward.

My wife and I live in Mint Hill - only about 8 miles away from 803 Elizabeth. We stayed just one night for a "weekend getaway" from the kids, but our visit was wonderful. The accommodations were top-notch, the breakfast was delicious, and our hosts were most gracious. We took a tour of their gardens after breakfast and they even gave us clippings of some of their plants!!!

As we were driving home, my comment to my wife was "I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed". We're definitely going back - and I would recommend this B&B to anyone!

We had the best time here. We were in Charlotte for the weekend to watch our daughter play in a tournament, and wanted to stay in a B&B.
The house and setting are fantastic. The area surrounding the house is a huge, beautiful, well tended garden. Being there in April was good timing. The house itself was so much fun, its from the 60s and has so many features we remembered from our childhood; houses we lived in and friends' houses. Our room was very nice, the bookshelf at the end of the hall way had interesting reading for a night's stay. The tiled bathroom across the hall was clean and nice, and also classic 60s style. We loved all the tile.
There are a number of nice restaurants close by to have dinner at.
Breakfast with Will and Martha was so enjoyable. Fresh fruit, homemade granola, wonderful juice and coffee. The conversation was friendly and fascinating; we felt like offering to help with the dishes afterwards.
We were fortunate enough to get a tour of the gardens after breakfast. It was like a layout from Southern Living.
We would love to visit Charlotte again and stay in 803 Elizabeth Street B&B.

  • Liked — Personal service from the Krauses, and the house/setting.
  • Disliked — Only that we don't go to Charlotte more, so we can stay there again.
  • Tips/Secrets — Easy access to and from the interstate.
