As first time whitewater rafters, we were not sure what to expect. We did the five mile trip with class 2 and 3 rapids. The team at French Broad Adventures made the entire day the highlight of our visit to Ashville. We were greeted immediately when we pulled in by a rafting guide. She was extremely friendly and explained how the check-in process worked. We signed in with Beck; who immediately engaged our group (the guy was funny) and explained what to expect on the river. We had ten people, so our group was divided into two rafts. Beck was one guide and Ed was our guide on the river. The instructions were extremely detailed and made both our groups feel very comfortable about the rafting trip. The rafting was fantastic, just challenging enough for our entire group but not too intense. Beck and Ed were great - pointing out sites along the way, explaining rapids and just having good conversation about the area. The trip lasted bout 3-1/2 hours but went by very fast. When we do this again, we will opt for the longer and more challenging trip (9 miles) as we enjoyed it so much. I have to give credit to Beck and all the guides. They worked great together and you truly sense the enjoyment they get from sharing their rafting experiences with others. The bus trip there and back, I do not think I have ever laughed as hard, as Beck points out "local" sites. The rafting was the highlight of our trip; both the experience on the river but the great staff made it that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend French Broad Adventures.
