As first time whitewater rafters, we were not sure what to expect. We did the five mile trip with class 2 and 3 rapids. The team at French Broad Adventures made the entire day the highlight of our visit to Ashville. We were greeted immediately when we pulled in by a rafting guide. She was extremely friendly and explained how the check-in process worked. We signed in with Beck; who immediately engaged our group (the guy was funny) and explained what to expect on the river. We had ten people, so our group was divided into two rafts. Beck was one guide and Ed was our guide on the river. The instructions were extremely detailed and made both our groups feel very comfortable about the rafting trip. The rafting was fantastic, just challenging enough for our entire group but not too intense. Beck and Ed were great - pointing out sites along the way, explaining rapids and just having good conversation about the area. The trip lasted bout 3-1/2 hours but went by very fast. When we do this again, we will opt for the longer and more challenging trip (9 miles) as we enjoyed it so much. I have to give credit to Beck and all the guides. They worked great together and you truly sense the enjoyment they get from sharing their rafting experiences with others. The bus trip there and back, I do not think I have ever laughed as hard, as Beck points out "local" sites. The rafting was the highlight of our trip; both the experience on the river but the great staff made it that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend French Broad Adventures.

We loved the whole experience! Our guide, Marti, was wonderful! She was great at getting us over the falls (with no one falling out!) and she was knowledgeable about the river and the surrounding area. The lunch was fantastic as well!!

We did the zip and dip special with zip lining in the morning and rafting in the afternoon. The guides made the trip so much fun and they truly cared about the guests and ensured everyone was having a wonderful time. Highly worth the money and we will definitely return to do it all again!

My wife, myself, and two teenage daughters did the 5 mile trip which was class 2-3 rapids. It was our first time rafting so we didn't know what to expect. One thing to know is that they go rain or shine. They provide rain gear for everyone as a courtesy which helped a lot. As far as the rapids go, it was safe and fun with plenty of splash. We stopped at a spot to jump off a rock into a deep spot. About 1/2 the group participated and several chickened out at the jump point. The jump was about 15 feet high and really fun to do. My advice is to not look down and just do it. You won't regret it. There was a "lazy river" spot where we were encouraged to jump out and swim along side the raft. It was refreshing on a hot day. We also stopped along the bank for about 20 minutes where we had a snack. Some bought the lunch package, which was a hamburger. Snacks were crackers and pop-tarts. Our guide, Chance, was amazing and he made the trip fun. All of the guides seemed very knowledgeable about the river and balanced safety with lots of fun. A professional photographer took pictures along the way which were available for purchase at the end. You can purchase pictures individually or all for $42.00. (About a dozen pics in all). We purchased all of them after reviewing them first at the shop. They send them to you via email and text so you can share immediately. Overall exceeded our expectations. Next time we're doing the 9 mile which has some class 4, and definitely requesting Chance again if he's available.
