I was attending the Salvation Army's annual Bible Conference at nearby Lake Junaluska . Maggie Valley with it's many small hotels is our usual billet of choice.
Another advantage of Maggie Valley is the array of restaurants large and small.
None of these scores of eateries surpasses Country Vittles in variety and taste of food, authentic country atmosphere and genuinely friendly service.
They don't open real early but by 6:45 am I was welcomed , seated, served coffee and given a menu that reads like the morning kitchen of any of the small farms scattered throughout the beautiful smoky mountains that surround this valley.
The eggs, the sausage , the gravy, the biscuits and the potatoes were superb. The coffee was hot, strong and endless.
If you want a great start to your day in Maggie Alley you want to eat at Country Vittles.
