This is where we always stay when visiting the mountains. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are the most comfortable!! Everyone is very friendly. There is a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. There is also covered parking for motorcycles. The view of the mountains from our room is wonderful!

We have stayed here many times over the last 10 years. We have never been disappointed. The owners, Lydia and Eric are wonderful and very accommodating people! Renée, their right hand lady, goes above and beyond! The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. The pavilion out front is the gathering spot to make new friends. My husband and I highly recommend Smokey Falls Lodge.

I must say Smoky Falls is a great little place to stay in Maggie Valley. We have been three years in a row. They offer covered parking for motorcycles which is a very nice perk.

The rooms are priced nicely and seemed to be very clean. Some of the rooms in the single story building are a little on the small side and there is almost no storage for clothing other than the closet and a small nightstand. In the bathroom there is no place for toiletries as it is only a pedestal sink. The rooms in the two story log cabin style building next to the office are much larger and have more storage. The price is only slightly higher than the single story building.

Outside the door are two rockers facing the beautiful mountains and the property appears to be well maintained. The ladies working the desk are very nice and accommodating. The Moonshine Grill, on property, is decent but a little pricey.

The one thing that caused concern for us was we discovered two hidden keys on the property. When asking about this we were told the key is there in the event someone gets locked out of their room. They can then be directed to the location of that key to access their room. This may not be a big deal to some but to us it was a security concern as this key has the ability to open any room and there is no safe in the room to secure your valuables The reason behind this is no one lives on property and the office closes at 5:00.

If you arrive after 5:00 and call ahead they will leave a key in the mailbox for you...
This concern was expressed to the owner and she did say they have discussed it. I hope they are going to revisit their policy. I think a simple lockbox is a much better way to handle this type of situation.
If it were my business, I would have someone living on property in the event of an emergency, etc.
With that exception, Smoky Falls is still a great place to stay.

We made reservations for the night as we were traveling toward the Smokeys. Thankfully, I did get a call as we were on the road to state that they were closing at 5pm and they would leave our key in the mailbox. We arrived at 4:30 to find the place closed but keys as promised. You could not get into the lobby area as it was all taped off. No mention that the resteraunt was also closed. Another couple showed up at the same time, with reservations, but no keys. We helped them get ahold of the management by phone.
The room was old but adequate. Unfortunately, only mild lukewarm water in the shower.
We've been traveling most of the winter, and I think for the cost, this was not a great value. Perhaps, if they had been "open" with reception and resteraunt, I would have a different opinion. If they wanted to be closed, then they should not take reservations.
