Mike and Dawn are the best, most caring owners I have ever encountered. My husband, parents, friends and I stayed for 5 nights and had a great experience. The cabins are very quaint but super clean and comfortable. My husband, parents and I stayed in the 3 bedroom/2 bath cabin and had plenty of hot water even with 4 of us showering. Sitting on the front porch and listening to the babbling creek at night was super relaxing. Mike and Dawn went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us many helpful tips on rides to take and places to see. We all left feeling like we had new friends and will definitely stay at The Alamo again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: All rooms are clean and comfortable but the cabins are super cute, have full kitchens and are more p...

So glad I get to follow a bad review. Folks, look at the pictures on their website. If you don't want quaint and charming then this place is not for you. Mike and Dawn are the greatest hosts ever! We had multiple plan changes and wound up having friends join us in our two bedroom cottage instead of our teenage kids. The cottage was very comfortable for 4 adults. The multiple grills close to the gazebo are gassed up and ready for use, which we took advantage of grilling filets to perfection and saving some coin to boot!!!! Slept with the window open to take in the sound of the creek. We plan on coming back next year.

Room Tip: Creek side cottages are cool and relaxing.

We stayed at the Alamo Motel in room 4, weekend of June 20, 2014. We have a small dog and they advertise pet friendly. At first glance, the room was clean and neat with (over powering) nice smell. However, don't go without shoes as the carpet was filthy! We had no hot water just luke warm after running 2 min., in fact, had to wait until return to home for a decent shower. If you need ice, you have to track down the owner and HE will get a very small tub. There are NO hand rails on the steep steps. My husband has problem with balance and I was terrified he would fall. No handicapped facilities at all. Extremely small coffee maker. Lighting was terrible! We may have to pay a little more next visit to Maggie Valley, but are sure we can find a better place to stay.

Room Tip: Just don't go there

I can't say enough good things about Mike and Dawn ! We took our kids here along with our English lab on a weekend getaway. Probaly one of our best experiences in staying at a resort. We usually camp but decided to give this place a shot! Highly recommend ! The owners actually care about your stay. They make sure everything is good! Dawn is a sweetheart , my dog Millie fell in love with her! Great weekend , thanks to Mike and Dawn! God Bless

This place was picture perfect. Mike knew who we were by name when we pulled in the parking lot. Such a cute intimate hotel. Hey you can pay more money right down the raod and not get the personal service like we got at the Alamo. We will stay there again.

Love this place! Got the opportunity to stay last and will be bad again this year. Owners are VERY friendly and welcoming. Helped us find things to do and where to eat. Everything was super clean. Had a great time!

Room Tip: Email/Call early, Dawn is wonderful and will fit your needs.

Dawn & Mike were great hosts - friendly and warm people. We stayed in one of the cottages. It is an older motel, but it is very charming, VERY clean and everything was in working order. It did not have that smell that sometimes older establishments have. We ate dinner in their gazebo one evening. It was selected as a midway point between Asheville & the Smoky Mountains and it worked out great. I would stay there again. I just wish I had taken a picture of Jasper on the porch!!!
