We arrived on a Saturday in September and were greeted by Mike and Dawn. They told us to go unpack and come back to check in. what a wonderful couple and the cottage was clean and adorable. Dawn is a doll and gave us a list of good restaurants and places to go see. It was a very relaxing and rewarding vacation. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Had a wonderful time and can't wait until next year. thanks Dawn and Mike

we arrived 9-23 and were greated by Dawn & mike the owners. Dawn is a hoot. Before we even got there she called to to see how far out we were. it was our honeymoom and she had a vase of fresh flowers in our room. the cabin was very clean and she had all kinds of maps and attractions ready for us. she loves to chat with everyone and Mike has bonfires in the evenings. i would highly recomend staying here.

We stayed at the Alamo while in the area for the Western Carolina Dog Fancier's agility trial, and were looking for pet friendly accommodations that could also lend a vacation feel to the trip, not just another dog show in a motel. The cottages at the Alamo fit the bill perfectly, were spotlessly clean, and proprietors Mike and Dawn bust their butts to keep the place and grounds in perfect shape. It was like staying at a place when you were a kid in the 60's, and we really enjoyed that whole retro/bijou vibe. It's close to everything, and Dawn provides you with a lot of information on what's nearby, from restaurants to waterfalls.

A great place to stay, and next time we can get to Maggie Valley, we will call here first.

Owners went out of their way to make us and our dogs feel welcome. They provided doggy sheets and towels etc. Not a grand place, certainly lacking in many areas, however good clean place to stay with your dog(s).

What a nice surprise. We were looking for a place to stay while we were in Maggie for the Moonlight run. Traveling with two big dogs is always a challenge and finding pet friendly motels/hotels that really are pet friendly is equally a challenge.
Well two thumbs up for Dawn & Mike, because the Alamo is the place to stay. Cottage was roomy enough for two dogs & two adults, full kitchen, sit on the front porch and listen to the creek.
Dawn and Mike are as friendly as can be, pooches and people alike!
We can't wait to see them again next year!

It's like Route 66 came to Maggie Valley, with these roadside style "cottages" in Maggie Valley. The owners are on site and manage the property. I stayed in one of the trailers, never got to see the inside of the regular rooms.

My place, the three bedroom trailer, has a stream running right behind it, and there is a porch right over the stream. The front porch has a swing chair. Two of the bedrooms had their own televisions. The third bedroom has a single bed and no TV, the second bedroom had what I guess was a full size or queen size mattress, and the master was with at least a queen size mattress and its own bathroom. The second and third bedrooms share a large bathroom with plenty of its own storage. The livingroom has its own television. The kitchen is quite adequate, and includes a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer (full size), stove, and sufficient wares for cooking. Overall, the place is simple but pretty clean and adequately stocked.

The owners really make the place, and they go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Here are some examples of what I mean: The property is well maintained, having nice touches like bird feeders, gas grills, a fire circle pit and more. Most importantly, THE ALAMO IS VERY DOG FRIENDLY, having dedicated dog walking areas, and having owners that will check on and walk your dog for you, should you decide to leave your pooch for a while (which I never did). I overheard the owners discussing how they do things like not do loud chores (cutting the lawn) in the mornings, so that any guests that want to sleep late can do so.

About the biggest negative I can say about this place is that the wifi signal could be improved in some areas of the property. While I never had a good enough signals to stream movies inside my cabin, the owners have a large enough video DVD collection to keep guests entertained, and each unit has a player, in addition to cable television.

I would absolutely stay here again, and I would have no qualms about telling anybody else to stay here.

Cute little Motel & Cottages just outside the main drag in Maggie Valley. The grounds are lovely w/ lots of tables, chairs and even a BBQ pit for enjoying time outside. Old time hospitality is what comes to my mind when you meet Dawn and Mike (the owners). We ride the TN/NC/GA roads a couple of times a year (when we can get some dry weather) and had read the glowing reviews about this "mom & pop" place. We were bringing our riding companion - Gia, our Chi-Weenie - and decided to try it out. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely return. They even had some local info on Maggie Valley restaurants and some maps of preferred riding loops. They go out of their way to make you and your pet feel welcome. The room was clean as could be and we had no complaints. Hope to stay again soon!
