“Motorcycle excursion to the mountains”

Cute little place and the you could not ask more of Mike and Dawn. They were so nice, friendly, and very accomodating. We enjoyed talking with them and hearing some of the
stories of their past and how they ended up in Maggie Valley. If you are looking for a luxurious place with all the bells and whistles, then this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a clean place where you can kick you boots off at night after a long ride, then this could be it. Dawn was kind enough to do some of our laundry while we were out on a motorcyle ride. Our packing had to be minimal so we greatly appreciated her doing that for us!! All we had to do was place it on the front porch when we left and when we returned that evening it was all nice and neat waiting for us. If we happen to be in the area again, we will definitely look them up. Tammy and Rob

It's like "home". The owners, Dawn and Mike instantly make you feel like family! Our cabin was very clean, and well appointed!! And it's pet friendly, and next time we will definitely take our pets! If we ever make it down again, we will definitely stay here.

This was our first trip with our chihuahua. Staying here made it one of the best experiences we have had. Dawn went out of her way to welcome us and our dog. We were concerned that the room would smell like a kennel and no way did that happen. The room was spotless. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Scout is ready to go see Aunt Dawn again anytime! Mike worked hard, but took time to chat with us also. The grounds, through Dawn's care, are lovely. We do plan to return here again and again. The area is lovely and this is the place to stay. Thank you Mike and Dawn.

Again, Mike and Dawn continue to provide more than just a room experience,They go above and beyond! Check-in took about 10 minutes to do and then 20 minutes to catch up on everything that's happened since our last stay. Dawn came by the morning we were scheduled to leave and set out on the porch drinking coffee and chatting with us and our dogs(brought treats for them also, of course). Even though the Can-Am Spyder rally was going on and they were busy, Dawn made time to socialize with us. Stay here and you'll find out that you'll be treated better than family!

ts for them too!)

Room Tip: If you want a pool or on-site restaurant, you won't get it here but what you do receive makes up...

Well Rae & I stayed at The Alamo again and man I don't know it gets better each time but it does. dawn & Mike take pride in this motel and it shows. But most importantly is the pride the take in their guest. These 2 people are like family to us & Dawn even said she wished we stayed closer, heck 5 hrs isn't long. They come out at night & sit by the camp fire with all of us to just visit and see what you did that day and you can tell it is not put on. They are interested. As stated before I WILL NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE WHEN IN MAGGIE VALLEY!!!!!!!

Room Tip: The cabins by the creek are great. You can here the stream run at night.

We were back in Maggie early this month for a totally rained out motorcycle rally. We stayed at Alamo again, after finding this little gem about 6 months ago. While the rain and rally were a bummer, we loved staying with Dawn and Mike again. I think the best part of this trip was meeting the other people that were staying, out in the rain, around the bonfire. The crowd was great, the owners friendly, and our dogs loved it. We took my sister and her pit bull, Vegas, along with us. Walking my little chihuahua along side her big fella drew a lot of attention.

The Alamo is a ray of sunshine in the dark clouds! You cannot go wrong with Dawn and Mike. Thanks again for another entertaining vacation.

Room Tip: Grab a cottage on the creek.

There were a lot of motel options in Maggie Valley, but we saw all the reviews for the Alamo and decided to stay there. I called to make the reservation and talked to Dawn (one of the owners), not some random person. On the day we were set to arrive, she called to check on us (we traveled through the night from Michigan). I've NEVER had a motel call to see if I was okay while traveling. Dawn and Mike had the heater turned on low so the room was nice and toasty when we arrived (it was chilly outside!). The rooms are spotless - I've never seen such a clean motel room in my life. You can tell they take great pride in their property. No, it isn't remodeled with all the new bells and whistles you'll find at large hotel chains - but that is what makes this place so awesome. It is quaint and so unique. When you arrived, Dawn will give you a packet of paperwork that will show you where to eat, what to see, and how to find Wal Mart! :) This was such a huge help as we'd never been in NC before. I can't say enough good things about the two of them and their motel. If you're looking for a small, clean, quaint, friendly.. overall awesome motel.. the Alamo is where you want to be!
