“Lots of fun”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

How can you not like snow tubing? This activity seems to get more and more popular. Tube World is located down towards the far west side of town and was actually our family's first tubing experience.

They have a decent setup, are able to blow snow if needed and are open into the evening. Lots of fun. You have to sign a waiver of course. The only small complaint I'd have is that the parking is somewhat limited and there aren't many places to sit for those who aren't tubing. By contrast, there is a place in Boone that has similar slopes, similar equipment and pricing but they have a nice place to sit down and warm up.

“Fun, but muddy and closed the lanes before the session was over.”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

Like many of the other reviewers have said, this place is much smaller than it looks on the website and very muddy. Once you are off the tubing lanes, you have to go through a swamp. They could put down more straw or something to fix this. Kids don't mind mud though and the group we were with had a great time until the end. They advertise that you are paying for a 2 hour session. Then when you buy your tickets you find out that the session ends 15 minutes before the hour. That wouldn't be so bad, but the night we were there they closed the left 10 minutes before that. For the price you pay that is not right. All the kids had been expecting another slide or two and were disappointed they could not go again. When we complained the management was rude and unresponsive. I guess once they have your money they don't care.

“A blast if you didn't mind the mucky muddy mess”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

We knew we wanted to visit Tube World when we planned our ski vacation, but didn't know it would rain all day prior to our arrival. We ended up deciding during dinner to go there instead of night skiing, since we had already (been there) done that.
Since it is first come first serve at Tube World the staff at Cataloochee Ranch offered to call ahead to see of there was room for us in the last session of the night (8pm to 10pm). Turns out there was, but it was nice to know before we made the trip.
It was snowing on the mountian when we left , but it was raining when we arrived at Tube World 10 minutes and several hundred feet later. We were detrimined to make the best of it, so we got our tickets and waited by the chiminea burning on the sidelines. It looked like everyone was having a goodtime.
We got lucky with our group and only had around 20 people total joining the session. This is a considerable amount less than they allow. Each session has a maximum limit of 150 participants. I could not imagin having to sharing the lift and lines with that many people. Because of the small number we were able to ride as soon as we got back to the top via the "magic carpet" lift. The staff was playing and having fun with some of the kids who (for whatever reason) decided they would rather have a snowball fight at the top than tube. We didn't mind.
The only draw back to this attraction was the mud hole you had to cross to get to the lift. it was smelly and thick. Really they could have covered it with straw to make the place less mucky, but they didn't. We ran through it each time because there was no way around it. Dragging our tubes through it each time as well. Buy the time the session was half over the snow on top of the hill was brown with mud we were dragging up the lift. Our shoes, pants, coats & gloves were covered in it, so were were glad it was our last night and we were heading home in the morning. I would have hated to have to wear that stinky stuff to the slopes! All in all we had a great time! And would reccommend this attraction to others. Just be prepared!
Our trip was presidents weekend. The tube hill had 5 lanes, but only 4 were open. It looked as if there would have been a couple of more lanes if the snow wasn't melting so fast.
