“Good Hotel for the Money”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

The hotel is getting a little old and needs a refreshing inside and out. However, I have stayed there several times and the staff is always great and the mattresses are great. The indoor hot tub and pool is a plus.

Stayed for 2 nights, the evening desk clerk was not very friendly. The remote for the TV did not work and so I was handed a handful of remotes, all did not work. Then handed batteries and the same. Later that evening a gentleman walked into our room and he did not know what to do either. The faucet in the bathroom more than leaked all over the top of the vanity. When we first checked in there was no towels in the room........believe that! Anyway, there are other places far better in maggie Valley. There is no elevator for senior citizens. Entrance to 2nd floor outside had a small spot light in an alley like area with a tree blocking any views.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

We had a nice-sized room facing the street but street noise was not a problem. The room and my impression of the property overall is that it is in need of updating and maintenance. The drain in the bathroom sink was very slow. The heater very noisy. Restaurant right next door. Front desk wasn't really very warm and welcoming. A wonderful indoor pool and hot tub. The rooms facing creekside had a better view. I'd give this property a 3 1/2 probably.

I made a reservation for my family of 5, and the reservations stated clearly that our room would have a sleeper sofa. Upon check in I was informed none of the rooms in the hotel had sleeper sofas. There was a sofa in our room, but it was not a sleeper. With some extra blankets and sheets we were able to make the sofa comfortable for my 11 year old son. What bothered me the most was that they did not seem concerned at all that their room description was clearly wrong, and as far as I know they made no attempt to correct the mis-information on the website.

Our room was very large and faced the road. For most of the night I was kept awake by cars going by, or the sound of the heater. The room looked very tired, and in need of a makeover. I would say that we only paid $69 for the room, which for a weekend is a pretty good deal.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the stream, which is facing away from the road.
