“Service is hit or miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2011

We have eaten here many times and the food is always good. The only problem they have here is that the service is hit or miss. Sometimes we will have the best wait person (nice, remembers order, refills drinks and brings check at right time without asking for it) and other times we will have the worst wait person (wrong food, no refills and have to wait forever to get check when it is obvious that everyone is finished with their meal). This even occurs when you order food to go. Sometimes it is ready when you get there or shortly thereafter and other times it seems that they misplaced your order. If it wasn't for the food, I would give them a lower rating.

“What a Catch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2011

Cracker Barrel restaurants seem to pop up where hotels pop up. This one is no different in Lumberton which is next door to the Fairfield Inn. That’s a convenience for travelers.

Most Cracker Barrels seem to be adequate for a meal. Not that I’ve been to many of them to compare. Maybe this is the fifth one.

I just have to say the lemon pepper rainbow trout was so exceptional, I could have ordered two dinners. The last time I ordered a similar dinner, (not at a Cracker Barrel) the trout was so awful, it was like eating a rubber-souvenir-shop child’s toy that looked like a fish. This chef here in Lumberton really knows how to cook a trout. It makes me want to visit Lumberton again. The cole slaw was typical, but the green beans were the overcooked out of a can type; all nutrition has been cooked out. But the trout; wow.

Service was quick and reasonable. And the prices were also reasonable.

A delicious dinner in a cookie-cutter restaurant. Not bad.
