“Somewhat Disappointed”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Stopped here on our way north looking forward to a great meal based upon Tripadvisor reviews. We had a blooming onion as an appetizer. I ordered the beef tips, my husband ordered the prime rib, and my mom ordered the lasagna. The salad bar offered a nice selection of fresh crisp salad veggies with an assortment of toppings and dressings. My mom was very pleased with the lasagna. The beef tips were served as ordered and were OK - some were a bit tough. My husband was very dissatisfied with the prime rib stating that although it was served medium as ordered, it was tough and tasteless. Service was excellent...our waitress was pleasant and attentive.

“" Chef Recognition!"”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Our first time dining at the Village Station 1893 Restaurant was a memorable one.
My interest was focused on the food and menu created by the in house Chef.
We were honored and given the opportunity to be personally greeted by the Chef because of
a managers keen observation and recognition of his customers.
It is the tic... tock...tic...tock...rhythm of a time table orchestrated by a chef's delegation that makes a successful restaurant. " Chef George (Jorge) Bonilla" the food was wonderful and we applaud your performance! We recognize the exceptional presentation of your creation.

“Pleasant surprise”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Lumberton is a halfway point between New York and Florida, so this was a quick stop. What a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant. The decor is oldish, but would recommend the Italian entrees. The service was very good, the food was good, and the place was busy even as we left at 8:30 PM. It was a find for three road weary travelers.

We really enjoyed the Village Station. The atmosphere was rustic and cozy, the food was excellent, and the wait staff was exceptional. The manager even made the rounds to make sure you were happy. We will be back.

“What Manhattan's best strive for”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Tonight's meal would get highest accolades from a NY Times reviewer. It was perfectly prepared with wonderful seasonings. It was the stuffed North Carolina flounder. And rather than the arrogance of a New York waiter we got very friendly greetings, people at the other tables smiled and said hello and the owners came be to get to know us and make sure we were satisfied, learn where we were from and where we were going.

The cost, $14.99 for the flounder, including salad and side dishes and $3.99/glass for a pretty good glass of Chardonnay.

This is too good of a place to pass up if you are anywhere near Lumberton.
