“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

Although we are beach people, we decided to go to the mountain for a few days to celebrate our 50t Wedding Anniversary. We had always heard of Little Switzerland, in the mountains of North Carolina, but had never been there. I actually saw it advertised in the Blue Ridge Magazine. This is definitely a hidden gem! It is like a Swiss chalet, with fabulous views of the mountains. We tried a Mon-Thurs special of $249 a night but they return $90 back to you at check-in, for use in their restaurant. You don't have to spend the entire $90, as they give you cash back for the difference in the cost of your meal. When we arrived, we had lunch on the outside patio, and it was very delicious and the view wonderful. We also went back for dinner, again outside. They had someone playing and singing throughout the evening, and lit heaters on the patio, as the evening went on. And this was on August 28! The air was so nice and crisp! We had breakfast in the dining room, and it was also very good. We could not have had better service or food. I had asked for a room with a mountain room, and it had a small balcony for two , which we enjoyed. If you want a nice, relaxing and quiet get-away, you will enjoy this place. Although an older hotel, the rooms have been renovated and are very comfortable. The only negative is they do not have an elevator, but the lodge is only two floors.

Located just off the Blue Ride Parkway (BRP), this is a really nice/romantic place. I've been there a # of times, mostly w/friends since we almost always go west, to the NC mountains f/leaf viewing in mid-October. (Best two weeks are the second & third weekend of October.)

There are a # of accommodation choices, f/inexpensive (the motorcycle lodge) to very upscale. All get to use the fabulous lodge, where there is a nice fireplace going throughout October.

The restaurant is fabulous. I prefer the breakfasts there but their dinner was also a treat.

Room Tip: The Motorcycle Lodge is the most affordable. If going w/big group or family gathering there are pri...

While traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, we spent one night at the Switzerland Inn. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The room was quite comfortable and larger than a regular hotel room. The lobby has an area to play games like checkers and put together large puzzles. Enjoyed my birthday supper at the restaurant there. Beautiful views of the mountains can be seen from most of the restaurant.

This is a great property with awesome views of the mountains. You never have to leave the property whether you choose to swim, hot tub, play horseshoes, etc. or just chill in a rocking chair by the fire pit. The food in the restaurant is good. The rooms are roomy and most importantly clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to going back.

My wife (of 44 years) and I have just spent another wonderful stay at our "escape" at Little Switzerland. And as every other visit before, we had an incredible time. We have spent many of our 44 wedding anniversaries with the Jensen family at the Inn and have never had a bad experience. Jackie and Gary Jensen (owners) have become more like family to us. We live in Mt. Airy, NC, 3 1/2 hours by way of the Blue Ridge Parkway, from Little Switzerland. A beautiful drive to an even more beautiful destination. The Friday night Seafood and Prime Rib Buffet make our stay even better with the fantasic food and service.
We have told so many of our friends about this magical place and none who have visited "our escape" have been disappointed.

Room Tip: We love the side of the Inn with breath-taking views of mountains and valleys.

Just spent a weekend in little Switzerland and had a great time. This place is located directly on top of the mountain with stunning views. Definitely get a room with a balcony on the view side of the hotel, it is worth the 20 dollars extra. The staff is great, good food, although little pricey, and a cool indoor and outdoor bar. We will be back in the fall!

At $179.00 plus tax this place is way over priced for quality. At this price I expect better quality shampoo, soap, sheets than what is provided. The service was ok, the Hotel (1900's) itself has character, but not enough to make me want to go back at this price for the quality. The Air Conditioner in our room was like a 747 landing and this was all night it never stops, I wanted to throw something at it. The Hotel is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the start of the Diamond Back route. Very limited undercover parking for bikes.

Room Tip: A/C noise is a killer.
