“Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

Great Place to Stay...Mike and his Wife Lynn were the perfect hosts...If you're just looking for customer satifaction, then you have come to the wrong place...They, "Delight You" and are attentative enough not to be overbearing...Mike and Lynn show a genuine interest in your wellbeing and experience with them, giving good solid advice on the local area etc...I was also greatly impressed when Lynn offered to have Coffee waiting on us at 06:00hrs on the day of our departure...Normally, that's only served at Breakfast time 07:30 hrs...

Accomodation is good, nothing fancy, all in good repair and Clean...

I plan on returning next year to the Skyline Inn..They are also Pet Friendly...

This is a rather unusual place, it is literally built into the side of a cliff, so that when you pull into the parking lot in back of the motel you are on the third floor. The rooms facing the front, which is most of them, have a fantastic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Be sure to get a third floor room with a balcony. Our room was quite large and comfortable.

The owners are very nice, and they are more than friendly to dogs, but there is hardly any place to walk you dog on the property, as it is on a very steep mountain. The back "yard" actually abuts the Blue Ridge Parkway, so it is very convenient for travelers on that beautiful parkway.

Room Tip: Get a third floor room with a balcony.

The view from the balcony is worth the visit,,be sure to book a room on the top floor. The room I had the bathroom was remodeled recently and was small ,but clean and very nice. The room was furnished with 1920 antiques and mountain craft bed and chair. Mike the owner is very warm and accommadating. If I was in the area again, I would stay again.

As a solo rider I am never sure what to expect when traveling. This was a delight. Mike was very friendly and informative about the area, even gave a tour of the building with its hidden secrets. The rooms were clean and comfortable. the views outstanding , the food was hearty. and the other guests where also very friendly. It was like staying with a relative instead of being at a hotel. If I ever I get this way again, this will be on my "to stay at" list.

Room Tip: the only way into my room was from the balcony. I loved the privacy of it. Never heard a peep from...

This was a perfect spot not a mile off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, with AMAZING views. The owners and their staff were very friendly and welcoming, and were around quite a bit. They have set the property up to make the most of the amazing views: outlook point, large shared balconies, and a outdoor bar. The bar has terrific beer selections, and there are many more options inside at their store. There is a lot of charm in the building, especially with all the detailed woodworking in the floors, staircases, etc. It is a pretty clean property, although the walls could be pretty thin if you have a noisy crowd staying. It is definitely worth a stay here over a chain hotel!

Stayed there with a group of motorcyclists riding the Blue Ridge, very convenient and while the owner was friendly and told great stories about the property and its history he should be spending more time cleaning the rooms and refurbishing the quarters. Our room was moldy, dirty, and we slept on a bed that you could feel the springs coming through - - - the air conditioner was not up to the task and its constant cycling would wake you up when the compressor kicked in. You need a good nights rest to ride the Blue Ridge enjoyably and this is not the place to stay for that. The location is excellent, the view spectacular, but the Hotel needs a lot of help. Stop for a cold drink perhaps on the way down the parkway but stay somewhere else.

Sorry you weren't happy with your room. We go to great lengths to ensure all our rooms are thoroughly cleaned and ready for occupancy each day. The room you were in had been cleaned thoroughly the day you arrived and occupied 20 of the last 30 days with no complaints. If you found something not right maybe you should have asked me to look into it instead of asking me for a tour and the history of the Skyline. When you ask for the history I don't have an Ovaltine decoder ring that indicates you really mean you have a problem with your room. By the way there was no mold in your room. I'm allergic to the stuff so I can find it pretty easily even if it is not in sight. That's one of the reasons we removed all the carpeting in the building and refinished the hardwood floors. You should address your problems directly for best results. Next time you take the Harley in for its regularly scheduled rear view mirror adjustment try to remember that and get a pair. Thanks for the input, Paula.

We wanted a view and we wanted simple good food and we stumbled upon this little gem. Now their menu is literally burgers, a pizza, lasagna, salad, and I think that's about it. They have an extensive beer selection. The owners are fun and friendly with a couple really cute dogs. They will sit and eat with you which is neat. It seems like they want everyone to just have fun and relax and treated everyone like neighborhood friends. Now the food, it was unremarkable but I don't think you come here to be blown away. It's fine, it is what it is, they aren't gourmet, they are a good little tavern with a great view with outside seating. Sit down, have a couple beers and a burger with good people and you'll just find yourself relaxing. They did make an excellent squash salad though as a side dish, they don't always have it but it's good.

We didn't stay there so I can't comment on the inside of the Inn. From the outside it looks rundown but I heard the owner say a couple times that they don't charge much either so it's a trade off. It is right on the road of a blind curve so be careful with kids. Convenient to the parkway though, it's like a quarter mile at best to the parkway.
