“Great History on what made these Towns”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2012

Mining is all there is available in this area of WNC. For that reasoning it has deep roots and history in this area; all of which you can learn about right here. Excellent place to visit for a few hours, especially if you are a rock hound or simply want to know more about "why they pull those rocks off these mountains."

“An affordable, fun couple of hours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

This was a pleasant stop outside of Little Switzerland. We bought a $25 bucket of rocks and sleuthed for hidden gems. After an hour we visited the funky little museum collections and general store. There is no admission. The only cost was for the bucket (the least expensive of which is $10). It's nice to encounter a tourist destination where we don't feel ripped off.

“A fun place in the mountains”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

Emerald Village is a great place to learn some of the local mountain history of Little Switzerland, N.C. and see how the mine once operated. I also love looking through a bag of rocks for gems. The bags start at 10 dollars and had a lot of lovely gems. They also have a great museum, hikes and on special events some wonderful live music.

“Most unique gem mine experience in the High Country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

This is the only actual mine that I know of in NW NC. There are actual mine ares with tours, great museum displays and a blacklight night tour not to be missed. If you want the best gem mine experience in the High Country, this is it.
