As we were riding through the mountains of NC, my children saw the snow capped top of Grandfather Mountain. Needless to say, we HAD to go up there! We all enjoyed seeing the animals and the amazing views from the many overlooks. The mile-high bridge was covered in ice, which produced beautiful pictures. All in all, it was a fun and breathtaking experience.

We enjoyed going to Grandfather Mountain. Walking across on the bridge is really neat and a little scary if you are afraid of heights. The views are spectacular. It was very windy the day we went in June and a little chilly. I would suggest taking a light jacket. Our daughter is 6 and she really enjoyed going across on the bridge. We went across several times. It is a beautiful place to visit and we would definately go again. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the mountains.

My wife and I visted Grandfather Mountain on a Thursday in early October. The temperature stayed between 60-70. We enjoyed the views from the top of the mountain, especially the vibrant colors of leaves changing. The nature museum had some interesting information about the plants, animals, and land around grandfather mountain. The natural habitats provided good views of animals you rarely see. The mile high bridge takes you to another section of the mountain that provides 360 degree views of the surrounding area. Dont expect the mile high bridge to have a literally a mile of space between the bridge and the ground below. Its elevation is 1 mile above sea level. We went on one easy hiking trail, but there were more trails of varying difficulty had we wanted to try them. We arrived early and were able to move around with ease. More people came around lunch and later in the afternoon so I would advise going early in the day. The gate price was $15 for an adult, but we got tickets a few dollars cheaper from our local hotel. $15 per person might be expensive if you only spent a few hours on the mountain, but if you take your time to take in all Grandfather Mountain has to offer, you should spend a full day on the mountain.

The small zoo is excellent - just don't rush thru it. The views from the top are incredible.

Visited Grandfather Mountain as recommended by my sister who lives in NC. So glad we did. Fabulous views from the top and we loved the Mile High Bridge! Will definitely visit again - this time for longer - and would recommend to anyone in the area. Would love to visit in Autumn as presumably the leaves are changing colour. My son loved the animal enclosures and the museum was very interesting.
