We had lunch at the restaurant near the golf course. Maybe golfers find the food good, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I had a green salad with what was supposed to be shaved cheddar cheese. It looked like the Kraft cheese one buys in the supermarket...orange and dry. When I asked the waitress for oil and vinegar...she told me they had no oil in the kitchen but came back out with some balsamic and oil in a small bowl. She tried hard.

Husband had a chicken wrap which he said was good. Maybe I am just a little fussy but I was expecting a better, fresher, more varied salad than what was delivered.

Great layout with numerous forced carries including your tee shot on the first hole. Great clubhouse and course staff. Start out with your bag of range balls to loosen up then off to the first hole a shorter par 4, but that forced carry off of the tee will get your attention. The second hole a dogleg left also has a forced carry off of the tee, but follows that up with a forced carry for your second shot. The greens are bent which being from the north I kind of miss down in the south where more and more courses have gone to one of the many new versions of dwarf bermuda. If you truly want to enjoy the course and nature that surrounds it play it soon as many new large homes will soon be popping up along many of the fairways, which I am sure will change the experience.

The golf club restaurant has build your own burgers once or twice a month for lunch and it's a must go to. You get a a paper burger menu and you circle all items you want to add to your burger. Selections include usual fare but also fried jalapeños, grilled mushrooms, sautéed onions, provolone cheese and many more. You can choose from homemade potato chips or seasoned fries. All for $5.95. All this in the beautiful golf club restaurant overlooking the golf course. They have a nice bar if you want to sit and linger enjoying your afternoon. Highly recommend for friends or family on a budget or people looking for a new experience.

Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest is a first class operation. The clubhouse is first rate and the course is very a very challenging layout for the average golfer.
