My husband and I visited this vineyard and were warmly met by Eddie and Sam. Eddie is such a sweet man and Sam loved a good belly rub. They both proceeded to give us an amazing tour with beautiful views. Not only was the outside beautiful but so was their new building. They did a wonderful job of designing their tasting room and banquet room.

We also got to meet Eddie's wife and enjoyed hanging out talking with the two of them and looking out at the wonderful mountain views.

The tasting was $8 for five wines and you get to keep the glass.

I would definitely recommend going here and meeting the wonderful owners. We spent an hour and a half because we had so much fun learning about this family.

My family and I visited this winery in September. We were warmly greeted by the winemaker's father - Eddie and Sam - their very sweet dog. Eddie offered us a tour but we were short on time and opted for just the tasting. We were led first into a beautiful room used for events with a large rock fireplace and amazing views from the windows. The interior as well as exterior is stunning. We tasted 5 wines 2 whites, 2 reds; a dessert wine. The cost was $8. The glass was ours to keep. All the wines were made there. The grape juice was shipped to them for all the wines except the Coming Home wine where the grapes were grown there. To be a new winery, one would never had known it. The chocolate we were given was scrumptious with the dessert wine. Jeff who is the winemaker walked up and introduced himself to our pet and to us. Diane who is the winemaker's wife created all the labels on the wines which are just beautiful. The large bathrooms are nicely decorated and spotless. The wines ranged. (I believe) from $17-24. We purchased a glass of Coming Home 2011 & glass of Smokehouse Red. We also purchased a bottle of the Smokehouse Red. We set on the front terrace where there is a rock fireplace as well. Elevation is 2300' which offers just breathtaking views. They planted their first vines in 2009. Their current varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Petit Verdot; Petit Manseng. Their website is www.addisonfarms.net. They are 14 miles northwest of Asheville. We enjoyed our visit immensely. Beautiful surroundings, impressive wines and last but not least. - our wonderful time with the winemaker's father - Eddie. Eddie is a diamond on this earth - a warm and friendly man we were so happy to have met. We would certainly return to Addison Farms Vineyard - a most enjoyable place.

We visited Addison Farms as one of the stops on the Leicester Annual Studio Tour and we are glad we did!

This family run business started in 2009 is situated on a farm which has been in their family for generations. Every member of the family was extremely friendly and welcoming and we even got a tour of the operations before our sampling.

Tastings are $8 a piece and included on our visit two whites, four reds, a dessert wine, and you get to keep the glass. While I liked some of their wines better than others, The Orion was my favorite. Keep in mind, this is not that eastern NC sweet wine you may have previously experienced at other NC wineries, this is the real deal and included a sangiovese, a blend, and a cabernet sauvignon to name a few. Bottles range from $15-$25 each.

Talk about a fantastic experience. Addison Farms is about 15 miles outside of Asheville and most certainly worth the drive, if not just for the view. As you travel up the mountain you will probably lose cell phone service and GPS but there are a few road signs for the vineyard. When we pulled up we were greeted by the family dog and welcomed warmly by the family. We did a tasting of their wines with the wife of the winemaker in their beautiful tasting room with breathtaking views.
After the tasting we were taken on a tour of the winery, which is a small little two car garage that the father built with his own two hands. We were walked through the entire wine making process and even got to smell some of the wine while it's aging in the barrel. It was amazing to see how much passion the entire family exudes as they escort you through the property. The land has been in the family for generations and they live footsteps away from the vines to ensure that they can care for each grape every single day. As a fairly young vineyard they are just now starting to make wines with their own grapes, and are continuing to plant even more. I'm confident that they will only improve with time.
