I just returned from a week at Skyterra, and I can't say enough wonderful things about this amazing wellness resort! From the moment I stepped onto campus, the generous and knowledgeable staff helped guide me through a very individualized and transformational journey towards increased health, vitality and peace of mind. During my time at Skyterra, I lost 4.3 pounds and 3.5 inches off my waist-- that's 25% of my weight loss goal in just one week! But more importantly, I gained a renewed sense of self confidence and a profound feeling of groundedness. And all of this takes place in a picture-perfect resort nestled in the mountains offering 5-star accommodations. There is simply no other place like Skyterra for holistically addressing all aspects of fitness and well-being.
Why was my time at Skyterra so special? First of all, it's the well-roundedness of the program. At Skyterra, getting fit is not about a deprived diet, nor exhaustive physical activity. Quite the contrary: the program emphasizes treating the body and mind well through plenty of delicious nutrient-rich foods and a well-rounded fitness schedule that includes some high interval training, but also lots of restorative exercises and opportunities to connect with nature. Each class is tailored to individual's ability levels so that everyone can benefit whether you come in as super fit, or if you haven't worked out in years. I also took classes in stress management that helped to illuminate my everyday...I just returned from a week at Skyterra, and I can't say enough wonderful things about this amazing wellness resort! Another amazing aspect of Skyterra is the incredible expertise among the staff who have deep knowledge and advanced, research-based practices in everything from nutrition, reiki (energy work) and massage, mobility training, outdoor recreation, yoga, meditation, and more traditional (boot camp) styles of fitness. I'm grateful to all the Skyterra staff who helped me through my week-long journey-- especially Amber, Kate, Ellwood, Maddy, and Jeff for all their advice and support.
Finally, I am also very grateful that Skyterra limits participation to a small group of guests each week. There were 10 amazing women in my group-- diverse in our ages and fitness backgrounds. I felt we had such a wonderful bonding experience throughout our stay at Skyterra. I'm thankful that we had time to share our stories and learn from each other, as well.
Some advice for future guests: hiking sandals (like Teva's) would be great in addition to hiking boots, but be sure to wear them in before arriving. Also, I recommend bringing a small backpack or fanny pack that can hold a water bottle for those longer hikes. Rain jackets are a must! The buildings have wifi, but cellular coverage is spotty so be prepared to go off line (which is the best way to enjoy Skyterra anyhow!).More
