Beautiful setting, great lodge with all the amenities you would need. Not a lot of nightlife around the area so if that is what you are looking for, this is not the place for you. Would be a great place to unplug for a few days.

Room tip: If you want to see the lake ask for it. I was on the 5th floor backside of hotel looking at a grass mound.

Hello pfitzgerald2019,

Thank you for your review. We do aim to be a tranquil setting for retreats, but can always recommend options for activities outside the campus if guests are seeking adventure during their stay. Hope you're able to make it back to Lake Junaluska soon to "unplug".

Our organization held its Annual Retreat this year at Lake Junaluska. It was the perfect setting with nice sleeping rooms, very functional meeting rooms and also an auditorium. The food was good, and the environment was just perfect for a staff retreat as the surroundings placed the attendees in the right mood to participate. Thank you for a wonderful visit.

We enjoyed the Terrace hotel very much. The food could be better. It was ore of a camp-style offering. The bacon, oatmeal, and gravy were not great. The best meal we had was the pulled pork. The hotel offers great views and is very clean.

This is the third year I have stayed at the Terrace for a women's conference. The setting is absolutely beautiful as the hotel is on Lake Junaluska. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable. The check in process, however, was horrible. We arrived right at 2:45pm, which was not long after the start of check in. Our group was fifth in line to check in and it took over 30 minutes to check in. The line to check in was almost out the door by the time we left and even though we saw multiple people who worked there walk through, only two people were checking people in. Finally by the time we left, a third person had arrived to help but it was beyond frustrating that more people weren't scheduled to help check in. Not only were they expecting our large women's conference but there was also another large group checking in as well. You would think that a conference center would be more prepared to meet the demands of a check in when they know they have two large groups checking in! We also had an issue with splitting the cost of the room between the three of us sharing the room. One of our friends had a family emergency and was unable to arrive until after check in. She checked in at the hotel and was specifically told that she was added to the room and the room cost was split three ways. When we went to check out the same person says that she can not add someone to the room and that we would have to go back to the welcome center to have someone there split the bill! Again, this is a conference center! How is it that they aren't prepared to handle these types of situations without causing more inconvenience to the travelers??!!

Well appointed rooms, if a bit small. Hotel seems to have been built with the idea that everyone will be out all day doing some of the many available activities. I like how the sinks are outside the toilet area so that they can be used while someone is taking a shower. So many balconies with rocking chairs and they all have a view of the lake. All areas I saw were clean and well kept. The dining room was pleasant and the food was good, although not gourmet style or quality. I didn't have any bad dishes, but I didn't go home wishing for any recipes either. Be warned that if you use a wheelchair, the public handicap stalls will not accommodate you if you need an attendant or if you are unable to stand up and turn around to transfer from the wheelchair to the toilet. The accessible guest rooms have large bathrooms with lots of room to put a wheelchair beside the toilet, but unless you specifically request a roll-in shower, you will get a bathtub and a plastic bath chair (not ADA compliant).

Room tip: Lake view rooms have a lovely view. The fifth floor has an exit to the upper parking area.
