This is the third year I have stayed at the Terrace for a women's conference. The setting is absolutely beautiful as the hotel is on Lake Junaluska. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable. The check in process, however, was horrible. We arrived right at 2:45pm, which was not long after the start of check in. Our group was fifth in line to check in and it took over 30 minutes to check in. The line to check in was almost out the door by the time we left and even though we saw multiple people who worked there walk through, only two people were checking people in. Finally by the time we left, a third person had arrived to help but it was beyond frustrating that more people weren't scheduled to help check in. Not only were they expecting our large women's conference but there was also another large group checking in as well. You would think that a conference center would be more prepared to meet the demands of a check in when they know they have two large groups checking in! We also had an issue with splitting the cost of the room between the three of us sharing the room. One of our friends had a family emergency and was unable to arrive until after check in. She checked in at the hotel and was specifically told that she was added to the room and the room cost was split three ways. When we went to check out the same person says that she can not add someone to the room and that we would have to go back to the welcome center to have someone there split the bill! Again, this is a conference center! How is it that they aren't prepared to handle these types of situations without causing more inconvenience to the travelers??!!
