My family and I visited the Lagoalinda Inn for summer vacation. The inn is a very large house which, according to the owner, will sleep 63 people. Guest rooms are comfortable and homey, with wood ceilings and walls which create a cottage feel. The ten upstairs rooms have private bathrooms, many of which have claw foot tubs. Each room has a specific theme and is decorated to reflect themes which include the Music room, Cherokee room, Lake Junaluska room, Victorian room, Quilt room, etc. Rooms on the left of the second floor are next to the prayer garden and water fall, and the sound or running water makes for some great sleeping. Summer temperatures are comfortable even though there is no AC in the home. When you arrive you will find that nearly all the windows in the house are raised to allow for the wonderful mountain breeze to blow through. The view from the front porch is gorgeous, and seating is comfortable and plentiful. This inn is located on a main road leading into the convention center, so there is a bit more traffic than you might expect. Guest kitchen is supplied with all appliances, cookware and utensils you may need to prepare family meals. A small dining room is attached to the kitchen, but we found the dining room to be our second choice for our meals, as we opted to eat on the front porch instead. A spacious gathering room downstairs provides plenty of comfortable seating and is tastefully decorated in a way that compliments the home. Note that breakfast is not provided. See web site for information concerning breakfast for groups. The Lagoalinda is located about 2-3 miles from Waynesville where you will find numerous restaurants which include national chains as well as interesting restaurants unique to the area. Waynesville is also a great place to do some shopping in a historic area. Everything you need to make your vacation comfortable is located in close proximity to the inn. Lake Junaluska is a fantastic place for relaxing strolls, and the scenery is beautiful. Homes surrounding the lake have well-manicured lawns and gorgeous flowers. There is much to do at no charge, including playing tennis, shuffle board, mini golf, swimming in a large pool, and enjoying the children's playground immediately across the street. Also, for a reasonable fee, you can enjoy kayaking and paddle boats. You need not spend a fortune to enjoy a relaxing vacation.
