“Best vacation ever!”
Reviewed October 24, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Our group of 6 all agreed that our Burgundy Barge Tour on The Magnolia was the best holiday any of us have ever had! (and we are experienced travelers) What a wonderful team :Captain Nico and his wife and Tour Guide Magali, Josh the fabulous Chef, Marie the Cabin Manager, Freddy the Captain's assistant and a beautiful mascot dog named Gypsy were ALL fantastic and made the experience so special! It was such a great combination of beautiful scenery, relaxation, the right amount of excursions, magnificent food, superior wines, really comfortable cabins and top notch service….The team at the Magnolia have truly perfected the Barge Vacation Model! We also had fantastic weather which was a bonus, but it would not have mattered. The itinerary is perfect and the truffle hunt with the truffle dog was one of our favorite experiences.. Magali our guide, born and raised in beautiful Dijon, was quite impressive with both her knowledge AND her passion for the information she shared. Nico and Magali have been in this business a long time and their experience really showed! Of course the entire experience was driven by the fact that they are such wonderful warm and kind people. We booked our trip through Emma (the most efficient person I ever worked with) at Hotels Afloat, which is a travel group with the utmost expertise on Burgundy Barge Tours. There might be 10 barges who offer packages but none could possibly match the perfection of The Magnolia. We will definitely return.

“Amazing, relaxing vacation aboard Magnolia”
Reviewed October 11, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We recently spent a week aboard the Peniche Magnolia cruising along the Canal Bourgogne. It was a wonderful vacation. The barge is much more spacious than we expected, with high ceilings and ample cabins and bathrooms. The furnishings and finishes are light and airy. The food was delicious and was accompanied by really good wines from the region. The star of the trip, however, was the crew. Nicolas, the captain, is assisted by a top-notch matelot, Frederic, who is very capable and conscientious. Magali, Nicolas's wife and co-owner of the barge, is a great tour guide. She took us on excursions that were varied and informative. We learned quite a bit from her in only one week. The chef, Antonia, prepared great meals that were based on our preferences. Additionally, she has a delightful personality that always had us smiling. Marie was our hostess and is without question one of the most interesting women I have met. She is intelligent, warm, helpful, and kind. We never wanted for anything and often she knew what we would like before we did. Last, but certainly not least, is Gypsy, the barge dog with her favorite squeaky ball. Gypsy worked just as hard as the other crewmembers, walking back and forth along the barge appearing to make sure everything was being handled correctly. We enjoyed this vacation as much or more than any we've ever taken. I would highly recommend a barge cruise on the Magnolia to anyone who wants to relax, be pampered, and enjoy amazing food and wine.

We weren't sure what to expect because we had never been on a barge trip before. The trip was absolutely wonderful! The boat and cabins were much larger than we expected. The crew made us feel like we were family and we had the best time! Niko was a great captain. Magali was absolutely wonderful and the knowledgeable tour guide. She taught us so much about Dijon and could tell she was proud to be from there. You could really tell she loves her job! Marie was the best hostess and took great care of us. Joss was an amazing and creative chef that catered to our needs. We can't wait to come back and plan in telling all of friends!

“Fantastic barge from which to visit the canals of Burgundy”
Reviewed June 4, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Have just spent six days travelling along the Canal du Bourgogne aboard the beautiful and spacious barge Magnolia. Unfortunately we had an unseasonably wet week but it was saved by the spaciousness and comfort of the barge, the fabulous restaurants, the day tours to local vineyards and local points of interest, and the enjoyable company and fine attention afforded by our lovely hosts Margoli and Niicolas.
The facilities aboard are first class, the barge is as large as is permissible on the canals and set to accommodate six passengers, not 12 or even more on other hotel barges, giving you room to really stretch out.
The canal and many locks along the way are very picturesque, you can stroll, cycle or sit on the deck to watch the countryside drift by.
Will return again......

“Awesome!”
Reviewed August 14, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

What brilliant week we had on the Barge. But calling it a barge really doesn't do it justice, it's far better than that. Apart from being huge, it is also superbly specced. The quality of the finish and fixtures is 4/5* hotel level. On a boat! Added to that the welcome and hospitality you receive from the owners (and their Dog) and you are set for a brilliant time. We stayed for 6 nights on a B&B basis, but would really like to try to guided tours next time as the local area is stunning. Vineyards and Chateaus everywhere. Great holiday and we highly recommend the 'Magnolia'.
