We walked the 1.1 mile trail to he overlook with our two young boys. It was a hot day for a sandy hike but we saw snakes, a variety of bugs, birds lizards and crabs. Bring snacks and drinks if you're bringing kids and be ready to put them on your shoulders for at least some of the walk back. Our kids were tired but enjoyed the walk (they are used to hiking). The platform at the end of the trail was nice though I wish they'd made it higher so you could see over the reeds better. Very pretty place and nice, but hot, walk.
