The whole area is great if you love history. The civil war museum is great and the aquarium is nearby.

“worth a visit before nature takes the rest of it”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is a free exhibit.

We went on a guided walking tour that one of the interns gave; she was dressed in period costume everyone in the tour group felt for her because it was HOT!! that day but she did an awesome job: very knowledgeable, informative and entertaining

It's a small fort that the Atlantic has been slowly taking away and unfortunately, it doesn't appear that it's getting much public funding because you can tell that some of the outside placards are weather beaten and can't be read...

If you're a civil war buff it's a must see; even if you're not a Civil War buff, it's worth a side trip. See it before it's gone; it's worthwhile.

“Worth the trip”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

We have had several great visits to Fort Fisher, even if it's just walking along the water's edge. I would highly recommend anyone that loves ghosts stories to visit in October for their "Haunted Walk/Tour" I caught several strange "imagines" on my camera when we took the tour.

“Not much there”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

Not a whole lot to look at but we had fun there catching blue crabs of the dock. There was tons of the little crabs in thier shells on the small beach right there. No need in buying one from the stores when you can get one for free there.
