“Always a high point”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

by visiting on a Wednesday morning, we had the whole place almost to ourselves...and as always,we were not disappointed..the touch pools, wetlands, etc displays, along with the BIG tank that is always an eye-opener. Did not see the diving display this trip, but know from past trips it is always fun. Some new game type things this time..a "hurricane stimulator", a trivia game with an automated dolphin, and also a whale location type game, where you are the researcher.
short trip, so did not do trails, but did walk away with new knowledge and will continue to give this aquarium a visit whenever in the area...never fails to amaze, and a reasonable price, to boot.

“Great Aquarium where you least expect it”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a great place to go. It has a huge variety of different species (not just aquatic) as well as information about each aquatic, reptile, bird, etc. My kids, boys, ages 10, 8 & 5, loved everything Megladon. The fish feeding times can be fun for all too. We were a bit disappointed by the one octopus, as it was hiding and you could only see its eye, but the rest of the aquarium made up for it.

Parking is easy, snacks are pricey (as expected) and there is a nice play area for kids to get out some extra energy. It's a great place to go to learn, have fun and escape the heat or rain. We have family that live in Southport and make it to the aquarium every year. If you're on the Southport/Oak Island side, the ferry is a fun way to get there too.

“All in one”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

The aquarium was booming with excitement and alive. We have been to many, but this one had outside exhibits to further the learning. My grandson had fun on the playground outside also.

“NC's Aquarium”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a great place to go. It has a huge variety of different species (not just aquatic) and a wealth of information about each aquatic, reptile, bird, etc. They have feeding times for the fish. In addition, there is a gigantic tank full of different types of fish swimming with several sharks. There is a place for the kids and adults to touch horseshoe crabs, hermit crabs, etc. There is an albino alligator, octupus, and many types of shark teeth showing the circumference of different types of sharks. There are so many different things to see. Adults and especially kids will enjoy the aquarium. Cost is $8 for adults; $7.00 for children over 6; free for children 6 and under.
