“Very Nice Hotel”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

We stayed 2 nights here in different rooms. First night was in a room with side view of the ocean and the row beach houses. Great view. Room was clean and very updated! The second room was on the ocean side. The view was breath taking. The balcony was well maintained and no issue of paint chippings at all like most said on reviews. Room was very clean and updated! Only problem I had was when you sat at the desk working on your computer the air would freeze one side of your face and there was no adjusting vents you had to turn the air off. Loved the free coffee & Free Hot chocolate in the lobby was the hit for the kids! Also it was so nice to walk up from the beach and get a drink from the Tiki Bar and order food and take it back down to the beach without having to leave the beach to go eat if u didnt pack a lunch!! Would love to stay here again!!

Room Tip: Ocean View!!

My friend and I spent four days and nights at the Hilton Garden on the Outer Banks. The hotel was very nice! The rooms were very clean with excellent beds. All the rooms had balconies which we enjoyed, although it was very hot when we were there. The breakfasts were wonderful with fresh omelets and eggs, or you could order a la carte for a different price. The pier was directly behind the hotel, or you could rent umbrellas or chairs for the beach. The staff was very accommodating. I would highly recommend the Hilton Garden at Kitty Hawk, NC!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the southwest.

If you take one vacation a year. This would be the great place. We paid the extra expense of an oceanfront room and everything was perfect. The only thing we noticed was no vent fan in the bathroom, but that of course is minor. You have your own personal pier to use and an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness center etc.. The $350 a night rate is extra steep if you ask me.

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the very bottom floor.Everyone walks by those rooms to get to the beach.

We booked this hotel during the week of the 4th as I suspected it would be a great place to see fireworks off the pier. I wasn't clear on how the pier and beach all worked from the photos, so here is the scoop: the Hilton owns the pier and guests are allowed to come and go at will. Fishing is available for a nominal fee, and all licenses, etc. are covered by the Hilton. You can also rent a beach umbrella and chairs for a nominal fee, but we just sat under the pier in chairs provided by my in-laws. The beach surrounding the pier is not that crowded, as it is all Hilton guests and many prefer the pool. The crowd is also very "clean" in that there was no loud music or obnoxious behavior. I was never much of a beach person, but this property converted me. I spent almost every day in the water with other hearty souls looking for the next wave (kid friendly). On the 4th, there were no official fireworks, but just many "illegals" up and down the beach (none related to the Hilton) and the crowd was small. My family all agreed it was one of the nicest experiences. The staff at this hotel are exceptionally polite. They put up with a lot of sand being tracked into the hotel. The costs seem reasonable as well considering the nicer property and amenities.

Room Tip: We paid a little extra for the ocean view and it was well worth it. Also, paying for the breakfast...

This was a really nice hotel that was clean and accomodating for our family of four. In fact, we found it to be the cleanest hotel in Kitty Hawk.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony facing the ocean...well worth it!

Our daughter got married at this facility recently and we were able to evaluate not only the rooms, but the overall property. It includes a wood pier extending a few hundred feet out into the water which is built off of a wider pier section near the beach upon which is constructed an enclosed, air conditioned reception hall with kitchen and bath facilities where the wedding reception was held. The reception included an open bar and full food service served to 12 round tables seating from 8 to 10 people each. Up to 120 people can comfortably be accommodated and still leave room for moving around, dance floor, etc. Our overall rating of the set-up and service provided during the reception was excellent. The food choices were very good (a large plated dinner reception inevitably has some downside for food quality, as it is difficult to maintain consistency in this situation), but the service was very efficient. Our daughter got married right on the beach in the pm, with chairs set up and an arbor shaped "altar" brought by the minister who performed the ceremony. Very romantic and memorable.

The beach is very clean with sandy bottom and not too inclined, and the water temperate. They give you beach towels for use there, and you can rent an umbrella with two nice beach chairs for $15 for the day. For those with small children or not inclined to go to the beach, there is a smaller sized enclosed pool and jacuzzi area overlooking the beach with chaise lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc. Drinks can be purchased at a nearby "Tiki" style bar and brought to the poolside.

The restaurant area is convenient to the pool/bar area and is located inside the hotel. We had breakfast there two days, and enjoyed cooked-to-order omelets, fresh fruit, fresh bread and other food items. There was a problem with the coffee maker resulting in a weak brew, so we were brought a fresh carafe by the server to our table. You generally get your own food and table, and the server brings beverages and can assist on other items as needed. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Nobody knew we were also doing the wedding during our visit.

We were upgraded to a 4th floor corner "honeymoon" suite from an ocean front room and got a 2 hour early check-in. There is a small outside patio with chairs and table accessed from a sliding door to the room to sit and enjoy the eastern sunrise, ocean waves and view. The room was long and slightly narrow, particularly next to the pie shaped jacuzzi tub which fills quickly and is relaxing. Lots of glass (but with sun blocking shading during certain hours) allowed a panoramic view down the coast, as there are no other tall buildings nearby. Closet space is fairly limited, but the dowel tall enough to hang a full garment bag.

Parking at the hotel is free and the spaces surround the property on three sides. The entrance is covered and you can check in and use one of the large luggage trolley's to unload your items to the room before parking. Adjacent to the property are a couple of smaller strip malls and a Rite Aid pharmacy and gas station. Within a mile are large shopping malls with modern supermarkets, etc. Incidentally, the hotel sits at the intersection of state route 158 (the one crossing the bay to the outer banks area) and 12, which goes north on the outer banks, and is convenient to access and leave (if you have seen beach traffic on the roads during Saturday/Sunday check-in-departure times from rented and owned homes located there, you will appreciate the value of this location). Particularly on Saturday, however, would recommend an early check-out to avoid the worst of this.

If you are planning on a Saturday wedding, you need to reserve the venue a year in advance. I think that the value for money was very good, considering the location, facilities, amenities, and overall service level. Would recommend for this purpose.

Room Tip: Almost any room will have a view of the ocean. Try to get a higher (4th or 5th floor) for a better v...

I stayed for a week while attending the North Carolina Inspectors Association Meeting in June 2012. My room wasn't ready upon arrival and Chris at the front desk took my cell phone number and suggested a great Barbecue place accross the street. He also suggested he could check me into a room which he thought I would like better. He was right. Excellent room with a view of the pier. Great cooked to order breakfast every day with super waitresses and an excellent omelet chef. The fishing pier proved to be an excellent source of relaxation and fun. The outdoor fire pit was great in the evening. I would definitely stay here again and hope the NCIA meeting is here next year.
