This is a must go to spot for wine lovers.
Great wine and beer selection, free pool table to play on and of course a couple of self service wine machines. Get a card from the bartender, slide it into the the machine and pick the wine of your choice that you want to taste, get a half glass or a full glass of. Must go hot spot.

My girlfriend and I, both in our late 20's, were looking for a fun after-dinner activity and Trio hit the spot. It is a multi-dimensional space featuring a wine/beer store, a cheese shop, a bar, and live music. We saw that they serve food as well, but we only enjoyed the liquid offerings.

One unique thing about the space is that you can get a "wine card" from a bartender or server which can be deposited into one of many wine dispensing machines throughout the bar area. Each machine has four (maybe five?) bottles of wine, and after inserting your card, you can press a button for either a taste (1 oz), half glass (2.5 oz), or full glass (5 oz) pour. Your selected wine then comes out of a spout into your waiting glass. It's a self-serve style wine pour system that I've never seen anywhere else. Certainly a novelty, as a bartender can do the same thing, but neat nonetheless.

After having a couple tastes from the wine dispensing machines, my girlfriend and I took two seats at the bar, ordered a bottle of wine, and listened to a three piece band play songs from The Beatles and beyond. The bottles of wine were very reasonable (starting at $20 for a Malbec). We were stuffed from dinner prior to arriving but the dessert (dark chocolate and goat cheese cheesecake, for one) looked great. I think it's also important to note that they had quite a few craft beers on tap, so the libations weren't limited to wine.

Overall, Trio is definitely worth checking out if you're in the Outer Banks and looking for a more sophisticated nightlife experience. The wine and craft beer store, which is part of the space, had some great selections as this New Yorker could find Southern Tier, Victory, and Founder's... all respectable brews. Definitely check it out.

This is a place to spend a sophisticated evening in an un-snobby place. I know very little about wine but it was fun to be able to sample several, and to share samples with our group of six who went together. The food was delicious, and it was helpful to have the Bistro's recommendation for compatible wines. The service was very good and the staff friendly and welcoming. It was a low-key, interesting way to spend an evening out, and a great alternative to the typical beach fare. I gave it a 4 because the open nature of the place made the sound reverberate and therefor required talking more loudly than I would have liked. (Of course we six may be around the age where hearing is a personal problem rather than the restaurant ambiance.) They do have a sort of loft-like second floor which is probably a bit quieter than our seats not far from the bar.

Nice selection of wines and beers on tap! But the really cool part was the way you could sample the wines....The bottles were hooked up to the machine that dispensed the wine according to your preference (sample, half or full glass). Most samples were $2, the prices varied for half or full glasses. And If you find a wine you like, you can purchase bottle to take home.

Cool way to spend a rainy afternoon with friends!!!

This is our favorite place to shop for unique wines when in OBX--and it's become one of our favorite lunch or afternoon snack stops as well. The French sampler platter has everything you could want and is a perfect complement to their selection of taster wines or beers. If the bar downstairs is packed, you can always go upstairs and get the same menu, but the real treat is when you browse the wine racks. They have great cheap wines and some very expensive "for your collection" wines as well, plus a great selection of unique wine accessories. If you're looking for a quality snack, that perfect wine or beer or a unique host or hostess gift, we think this is the spot to find it. We keep coming back and will certainly continue to do so in the future!
