Always worth a stop if passing thru kinston. Love the BBQ sandwich meal. Make sure to try banana pudding desert. Also if you go to the bathroom listen to the best bathroom music ever heard. Homily to BBQ. Hilarious

Traveling with a co worker this week caused us to stop at this Barbecue legend. It lived up to its reputation. I had the chopped pork plate with coleslaw and fried okra. The Pork was moist and tender. The sauce was vinegary and spicy hot with a hint of sweet. It was great. Slaw was excellent and not watery. Fried okra was hot and crisp. The best part were the hush puppies. They were outstanding. Hot, crispy, and moist inside. What else could you want. Great place to eat local eastern barbecue!!!

Being King's virgins we were suspicious when we pulled up to the outdated, strip-mall-looking exterior. As we walked in right after 11am we really thought we'd made a mistake walking into the nearly empty, 70's-feeling dining room. It didn't take long at all to realize this place was the real deal and we had just scored a prime table for the lunch rush.
We enjoyed the famous Pig in a Puppy and we were more than happy with the greasy, flavorful, unique delight. The Brunswick stew was delicious, full of flavor and just what you'd want it to be. The meal didn't feel complete until we had heaping bowls of the housemade banana pudding. Words cannot describe the heavenly deliciousness that is this dessert. It was made even better when the adorable, accomodating waitress brought us fresh waffle bowls to eat the pudding out of.
Our drinks were kept full. More than one employee came by our table to make sure we were happy.
By the time we were ready to leave the dining room was at capacity and buffet (we did not try) was busy.
We look forward to going back to try the fried chicken and more barbecue.
What a fun treat this institution of a restraurant is! Do stop if you have the chance, it's a treasure!

Went to Kings BBQ on recommendation of hotel. Was looking forward to enjoying some eastern carolina style sauce. Got an order to go. Meat was very fatty and consistency was, for the most part, ground...the slaw should have been listed on the dessert menu since it contained so much sugar. Had to throw the entire meal away.

This is one place where I have to stop anytime I go to Kinston. The pig in a pup is the perfect balance of BBQ and cole slaw on a large sub sized hush puppy. And that staff is always kind and friendly.
