Having been to the Outerbanks several times we've never stopped here. The house we rented this year was just up the road from the Jolly Roger. We got in late Saturday due to traffic and chose the restaurant as it was the closest to the house. We had fried ravioli, crab cake dinner, fried oyster dinner, sausage and peppers over linguini and chicken tender kids meal. It was all very tasty. Service was excellent! Our waitress confided to us that it was her first night but had she not said that you'd never have known. She was cheerful, attentive and personable. A definite asset to the wait staff! My husband and son had breakfast there on Tuesday and my son said "Best breakfast ever, Momma! Yummy pancake and the crispiest bacon!". High praise coming from my picky eater! One cautionary note though the entrance is through the gift shop which is full of great eye catching pirate goodies sure to tempt the kiddies.

We went to Jolly Roger for breakfast on the first morning of our stay at Sea Ranch. We were provided with a voucher for 2 free breakfasts as a part of our stay.

We ordered and our food was brought promptly. The food was good but not that great. They make their own breads, but when toasted they become very hard and the crust cuts into your mouth.

The decor of the restaurant is quite whimsical. There are Christmas lights, Santa pictures, and many other off the wall things throughout.

When they brought my six year old's drink they had a pirate flag on a hollow plastic stick for a straw, he also got a paper pirate hat and plastic pirate coins. It was neat that they gave him these things.

Stopped in for lunch to check out the local vibe of the place, but it looked more run down than old-time. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good and seemed like it had been left over from yesterday. The chowder and bisque were as thick as pudding and not very tasty. The daily special burger arrived on a mostly-stale bun, and even the fudge brownie dessert was stale. Hopefully, it was just an off day for them, and maybe it's better in the summer when they can keep the food moving faster, but we were disappointed.

This place looks pretty run down and dismal from the outside - kind of put together and dated but once you open the doors it doesn't take long for all of that to be an afterthought! The Jolly Roger is clearly a local hangout spot for those that live on the OBX. The food is wonderful and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Just look past the outside and the interesting décor of the place and treat yourself to a real treat on the OBX!

We picked this restaurant because it was described as family friendly. Um, no. It was more like family frightening. The loud language spilling over from the very busy bar side was bad enough that we asked for boxes almost immediately after getting our food. Judging by the scum growing on the inside of the windows which were almost covered with curtains, I'd hate to see the inside of the kitchen. The waitress was friendly and kind, but when it was time to top off our drinks, she used her cleavage to carry my husband's cup back to the kitchen. And this place was not inexpensive. Our tab for 2 appetizers (one was half price because of a coupon) 2 adult entrees, and 2 kids meals was over $60. Although we brought the leftovers back to the hotel, my kids decided they wanted peanut butter sandwiches instead. The Play At Your Own Risk sign on the playground says it all.
