Won't repeat all the great things everyone has said about the Cypress House Inn and Veda and Bill, except to say that they are all true. If you are looking to stay in this part of the Outer Banks and you want the perfect place with exceptional hosts, this is it.

We stayed three nights and were so happy with our choice! Bill and Veda are the most amazing hosts, we felt welcome the moment we stepped through the door. The room was spotlessly clean and beautiful. The house is beautifully decorated as well.
Bill and Veda gave excellent advice on where to eat and places to go. Breakfast was delicious every morning. We will definitely be staying here again.

Cypress House Bed and Breakfast, located in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, was one of the most enjoyable places I and my boyfriend have stayed at for vacation. Both Bill and Veda, the owners of the establishment, are two of the friendliest people I have met in my travels. They were always available to answer any questions we had, give advice on where we should go, and, most important, where the best restaurants were. In fact, once we checked in, they gave us a printout of their personal favorite restaurants. The list included where the restaurant was located, what type of fare was served, the price range, and if it was a casual or more dressy restaurant. A very handy little list indeed. My boyfriend and I made it through a good portion of the list during our week stay, and every place we tried was excellent.
As for the house in which we stayed, it was very beautiful. The house was built as a lodge back in the early to mid-1940's, and was made entirely out of cypress (hence the name). When you are walking around the house or lounging around in your room, it almost feels as if you are staying in a large wooden cabin. It is very clean, and beautifully decorated. Our room was perfect for the two of us and it consisted of a lovely queen-sized bed, two chairs and table, a chest of drawers, and a flat-screen television. Everything was made of white whicker and looked amazing in the room. We also had our own private bathroom and shower located in the room as well.
As for the surrounding area, the Cypress House Inn is located just a short walk across a two-lane street and parking lot from the beach. It was wonderful to be able to just gather our stuff and take the quick walk to the beach. And, since the Cypress House Inn had beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and even some water toys (wave boards for instance) free to use, all we had to do was pick them up on our way out and we were ready to go. I must say that since we had driven down from a large city and did not bring (or even own) any beach supplies, this was such a wonderful perk. Also, as I stated before, the bed and breakfast is located by many delicious restaurants and even a few attractions. We enjoyed the Wright Brothers Memorial and History of Flight Museum (located just a couple minutes away) and the water sports (jet-skiing, sailing, etc). Everything was just a quick walk or drive away.
Alright, now on to my favorite part of staying at the Cypress Inn: the breakfast. Both Bill and Veda worked together every morning to fix up a lovely breakfast that always began with fresh fruit (different fruit and a different way of presenting it every morning) followed by a hot breakfast which could be apple cinnamon pancakes, french toast, frittatas, quiche, and sides like bacon, ham, sausage, and muffins. Everything was homemade, fresh, and delicious. They also served coffee, juice, and tea. Every morning was a new surprise and myself and the other guests would usually spend a long time at the table talking with one another and with Bill and Veda. It was, without a doubt, my favorite part of the trip.
So, if you are looking for a nice, relaxing trip to the beach, but don't want to stay in a hotel, try out the Cypress House Inn. It was beautiful, clean, in a great area with almost instant access to the beach, and ran by two of the kindest people I have met. And, if you still have any doubts, did I mention that Veda bakes fresh cookies or brownies every afternoon?

This was the second time we'd stayed at the Inn. Bill & Veda are the most welcoming folks in the world. When you arrive in the afternoon there are cookies & ice tea waiting on the table. The rooms are cozy, comfortable and immaculate. A delicious breakfast is served around a large dining room table, which gives the guests plenty of time to talk about all things vacation, especially the Outer Banks. Anything you could want for the beach is available at the Inn, from bicycles to beach chairs & towels. Lexie the house dog is friendly without being overwhelming. We have recommended this place to several of our friends, and can't wait to get back there ourselves.

get back down there ourselves!

I just got married at the Cypress House in July. We rented all 6 rooms for a 3 day weekend and I couldn't have asked for a better vacation spot. Veda and Bill were great hosts, the breakfasts were to die for, they provided everything for the guests including beach chairs and boogie boards, and the house was amazingly clean and comfortable. It was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and we will never do a hotel again.

My wife and I spent a week here for our anniversary beginning June 20. Bill and Veda are wonderful hosts and the b&b is exceptionally clean and cozy. We stayed in room 8 which was a great size and had a very comfortable bed (we took several naps there during the week). The inn is located across the road from the beach directly in front of a public access point. It is also centrally located to many area attractions. Bill and Veda supply guests with everything needed for a day at the beach - towels, chairs, floats, boards, and umbrellas. They also have bikes you can use although we didn't use them during our stay.

Breakfasts are very delicious and homemade every morning. The coffee is great as well. They also make cookies and tea every afternoon which were very good. Each room also comes with a list of recommended restaurants for lunch and supper. All the ones we tried from the list were very good.

The rooms were very clean and felt more like a room from our own home. Our room had a mini fridge which allowed us to keep snacks and drinks in the room. The rooms were freshened daily.

Our stay was wonderful and we plan on coming back again.
