“Superb dining, excellent service and ambience”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

We went back three times during our vacation in Nags Head. Earlier this summer, in June, we went twice. Anne and I love the Colington cafe, and you will too! I also wanted to add that, for a pair of New Yorkers, the prices are fantastic for such fine cuisine. Don't forget to try the Crab Bisque

“Best in OBX”
Reviewed September 8, 2011

I would have never known this place was here if it weren't for TripAdvisor. Definitely off the beaten path, but I doubt there would be any room for any walk-in diners if it were located on the main drag. It was BUSY!! I doubt you can ever eat here without a reservation. Once we sat down and started eating, we understood why. The She-Crab bisque and crab dip were phenomenal. We enjoyed a great selection of wine, and absolutely delicious dinner specials served with a smile. Awesome dessert, too. Random additional thought: EXCELLENT music was playing in the background, which we really appreciated. It was the PERFECT date night.

“Excellent Meal with superb Service”
Reviewed September 5, 2011

We were spending 5 days in Kitty Hawk; and while we had good food, we wanted something more than bar food on our last night. We called in the late afternoon, and the lady on the phone said they could accommodate us at 5:30. We got dressed and headed off with our 5-year old who promptly fell fast asleep in the car. After a day at the beach, the beach had won. We carried him inside, and the manager took us upstairs and created a bed for him using a cushion. Finally my wife and I could have an adult meal. We started our meal with excellent appetizers and my wife finally had a high-quality glass of pinot noir. As we were eating, we noticed there were some ants coming in through the window. We were promptly moved, and we continued to enjoy excellent entrees. The staff was mortified about the ants and profusely apologized, but we knew those things happened and were beyond their control. We finished our meals and had to pass on desserts because we were full. As we said goodbye and told them how much we enjoyed the meal, they presented us with desserts to go for the trouble we had with dinner. The next time we go back to the Outer Banks, we will be sure to put the Colington Cafe at the top of our list and make sure we have a reservation ahead of time.

“Great food in a charming location”
Reviewed September 3, 2011

Our last visit to Colington Cafe was about 15 years ago. I'm glad we rediscovered this Outer Banks gem. The she crab bisque is the best I've ever tasted. The daily special (yellowfin tuna served over tortellini) was to die for. Crabcakes were delicious with minimal filler. Everyone in our party raved and all plates were clean. This is our new favorite OB dining spot.
ONE NOTE: Our GPS pointed us to a spot in the woods about 1/2 mile down Colington Road from the actual restaurant location.
