“Excellent food, excellent restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

We went to this restaurant because of the TripAdvisor reviews and we are glad we did. I will note that we went in the off season and during the week so the restaurant was not full and was fairly quiet. However, the service and food were still excellent. My wife went for the surf and turf and I went with the Seafood Cioppino. Both were excellent. We had our 2 young kids with us as well and the staff was very accommodating. We will certainly go back the next time we are at the Outer Banks.

“Fabulous find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

We took a chance on this place, recommended by our hotel people, and were not disappointed! The Flying Fish Café is a very nice upscale eatery. We didn't need reservations because it was mid-week after Labor Day but there were still plenty of people enjoying their evening there. The food was well-prepared, service attentive and knowledgeable, and my cocktail was well mixed. Yummy! I had the crab cake dinner which was delicious! I chose the one cake option because I wanted to balance my meal with salad and soup. No room left for dessert but also no leftovers to abandon either. I will definitely be back!!!

“Nice find after 5 years of vacationing here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

Went to the Flying Fish with 8 adults and a 5 year old. This was after labor day so all of the OBX was kind of quiet. Arrived with ample room to park. We were seated right away. The place is smaller than most OBX restaurants. Lights were dim with nice lights over the table. The waiter was prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the nights fish special and was very happy with the preparation,, presentation, and quantity of the dinner. Everyone else was equally happy with their choices. The prices are up scale with entrees in the $25 - $30 range. Mixed drinks were $6-8 and wow a big kick in those drink. The entire bill ran us $400 We are definitely going back next year.

“Lunch is now served at the Flying Fish in Kill Devil Hills, NC (Outer Banks)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013

After many years of just opening for dinner the Flying Fish Cafe in Kill Devil Hills, NC is now open for lunch. The Fish is known for their outstanding gourmet dining experience and lunch was no exception. I was there for opening day with 3 others guys (we eat lunch 2-3 times a week at various places on the Outer Banks). We all had different options, I had the fish tacos and let me tell you they were delicious. The Outer Banks has many restaurants that offer fish tacos and these were some of the best!! The 3 other dishes were the oyster po-boy (it was huge), crab cake sandwich, and cheeseburger. All 3 came with a side of fries. At the end of the meal all 4 of us vowed we would be back!! Nice portions and priced in line with other restaurants on the Outer Banks with prices ranging from $7-$12. It's hard to find a good quality lunch made fresh and the Fish hits the spot!! Now open Wed-Sunday at 11:30

“Started with good reference”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

First vacation in the Outer Banks. Relied heavily on reviews. Rated mostly 4 out of 5. Nailed it. Atmosphere was upscale compared to other OBX eateries. Service was slow(think they were short staffed) but the wait staff was professional. Especially Brent, recent hire. A gem! Drinks were appropriately mixed. The spinach pie was fresh and tasty. The scallops were seared to perfection and the risotto flavorful. The filet mignon could be cut with a butter knife and prepared just they way we like it-medium rare. The signature crab cake was a disappointment. Too much breading. Expected much more from a shore town. The Traditional Rum cake was ok, not worth $12. Would go back again. Hope this was helpful
