Heading to Port O'Call was a sentimental journey for me; my family had frequented this place on OBX vacations in the '60s & '70s. Unfortunately, memory was better than the present reality. The atmosphere was great -- nice and quiet, and a bit quirky by modern standards (lots of Tiffany lamps and dark wood!) Our waitress was the highlight of the evening. The food was uneven in quality: Salad, good; DH's scallop dish, excellent; my shrimp scampi, half-cold and utterly bland. The wine selections are OK, but limited -- skip the port.
Judging from some of the other reviews, what you get may depend on who is in the kitchen that night. Sigh. Frankly, I don't know whether I will want to spin the wheel next time we head to OBX.
