Our stay was very pleasant except for the inspection of the bathroom which needed attending to. Housekeeping came quickly and did a thorough job. Dinner in your dining room was excellent. Very tasty! We'll be back!

A friend and I had been planning our trip to the Outer Banks for a five day vacation July 17-22. After reading reviews on tripadvisor, we purchased our room through Expedia. We arrived late Tuesday night from driving and had problems finding a parking space due to the comedy club that evening though there was an overflow lot across the street. After the comedy club finished, we were easily able to find parking for the rest of the trip. The woman at the desk was quite friendly and personable, answering any questions we had. We received a room on the 4th floor that faced the parking lot.
The room: it wasn't the biggest in the world, but for two women, it was fine in size. The minifridge was quite spacious and there was also a microwave in the room. The bathroom was also on the smaller size, but was not uncomfortable. The balcony was big, with two chairs and a table with a decent view for not facing the ocean- could see the Wright Brothers Memorial in the distance. Most reviews state that the beds were terrible- we both found our beds to be quite comfortable, no squeaks, and plenty of soft pillows. The older woman who cleaned our room was so friendly and helpful! She cleaned up well, and always had a short, friendly conversation whenever we passed in the halls.
The Peppercorn's restaurant was disappointing for service yet the food was delicious. The place is open until 10:30 for breakfast- the first morning there we missed the breakfast time, but they accommodated us by allowing us to purchase cereal, bagels, and fruit. On another day, their hot breakfast was delicious, but service took FOREVER. We sat at our table for over 10 minutes before we even placed our drink order. The waitress was also unfriendly and cold. After we ate and waited for our check, the waitress tried to make small talk about their luncheon and referred to other younger employees in a condescending way and calling them "foreigners" which I found to be extremely rude and uncalled for. The restaurant stays closed until 5 to begin dinner. We arrived around 9pm one evening and had a wonderful gentleman serve us- very friendly! The grilled chicken and pulled pork were delicious. The meals were all on the more pricier side, so we opted to eat out and grocery shop at the nearby Food Lion for the rest of our meals.
There is also an outside bar- great bartenders and food items listed. Alcoholic drinks are expensive but definitely include the amount of alcohol you paid for; drinks were very strong.
The ocean was fantastic! The long deck, which includes the outdoor shower and foot washing area, leads to the sandy beach where you can rent chairs and umbrellas provided by Ramada. The beach was very clean in comparison to other beaches i've visited and ocean temperature was perfect. The last few days were rainy, but the view from inside along the ballroom on the 4th floor is awesome to watch the storm.
Many people had dogs, and I never saw any mess left by the pets. The wifi would cut in and out at times throughout the trip. We never had a desire to try out the pool or hot tub but it was slippery on the walk through from the outside deck. There was nice live music one day on the deck near the bar as well. I also found it to be in a great location- a few restaurants a walk away, Port o' Call restaurant and bar less than a mile away along S. Virginia Dare Trail. Of course the place was pricey for what we got for a hotel, but it's in a tourist location- it's expected, and in comparison, it was one of the cheaper options for the area.

This hotel needs remodeled desperately. The bedrooms and bathrooms need completely ripped out and redone. Because the hotel is located perfectly.....ocean front, they should put tile or laminate throughout the rooms so that you can easily keep it clean and disinfected.

As listed in our 'problems' area, through no fault of hotel management, blowing, intense thunderstorms caused our carpet to get wet near the a/c and balcony door. Due to weekend staffing, a water extractor was not brought in until 2 days later...by then the carpet smelled funny...our final bill was adjusted which was a help. I would still consider staying here again due to the great location IF I were coming with family. For a quiet romantic retreat, this would not be a good choice. There were lots and lots of children running in the hall, screaming in the indoor pool, in the hot tub etc.

This was our 2nd time @ this hotel, the 1st stay was better than this one. The beds were uncomfortable. Room was never cleaned while we were there, we asked for towels & brought them when ready but dirty ones were never removed. The location is great, love that we can bring our small dog w/ us.The restaurant Peppercorn's everyone was very nice & great service.

The good....location
The bad....
1. The bed, it squeaked and was terribly lumpy
2. No wi-fi. Advertised, but did not work the entire time there.
3. Towel rack in bathroom broke twice, I guess they gave up trying to fix it.
The hotel needs to be updated.
