$4 gets you access to the memorial for 7 days. I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to go more than once, other than for the picnic areas. Great museum that tracks the full history of the Wright Brothers. There are markers set outside that allow you to walk the distance they flew. There is also a really neat memorial that is quite a hike up a hill. When you get to the top, the view of the Atlantic is awesome.

Definitely worth a stop for an hour or two

We took the family here to check out some history. The visitor center is simple it gives you the information and history. It also has a replica of the first airplane. Its a good bit of walking and they stress you must stay on the path due to cactus, and fire ants. However i wish they had said something about all the goose feces. Oh my all over the place, watch where you step. Also you dont have to walk from the visitor center all the way up the hill. You can drive and park next to the hill and climb up. We passed on going up because our group was not into that. Otherwise it was nice to see the attraction i had driven by so many times.

I've been to the Wright Brothers Memorial on all three of my OBX vacations. For anyone who is interested in science, aviation, or just U.S. history, this is a must-visit stop for your itinerary. The exhibits do a good job of describing Orville and Wilbur Wright's endeavors that changed the world, and members of the National Parks Service give informative talks about the first flight.

It took my husband and I (it was his first visit) about two hours to explore the museum exhibits in both buildings, walk to the top of the hill to the memorial, and walk the length of the four first flight attempts. The amount of time you spend will obviously vary depending on your interest level and how closely you read museum plaques.

The memorial closes at 5 pm, so be sure to give yourself enough time. We went from about 11-1 and found that it wasn't too crowded. Be sure to wear sunscreen and good walking shoes, as everything apart from the museum exhibits is outside and there is a bit of walking involved if you want to see everything. The park charges an entrance fee and re-admission is allowed for several days after your initial visit.

The kids loved the junior ranger program. It made them actually pay attention to the information that was being given to them. Plus they got a badge at the end of it. Cool!
Nice view from the tower. Very informative

This was a very neat thing to see. I didn't actually go up to the memorial but enjoyed seeing the museum and the outdoor exhibits. I loved learning more about the Wright brothers and their flight efforts and there was some interesting information and photographs of what the Outer Banks looked like when they were there.
