Great place to have a picnic or canoe or tube down the river. It's absolutely beautiful. The Hellbenders are neat to watch swim around.

The New River is always beautiful and offers something for everyone. It's free to enjoy unless you take a tour, rent equipment, or something of that nature.

Beautiful park with all its natural life and awesome river with mild rapids. We'll like to go back in summer when a lot of activities can be enjoyed in the river. Trail are wonderful and the air is so pure you could actually notice it. Nice exhibit of local inhabits can be seen in the parks main cabin.

The New River is designated a wild and scenic river. People like to canoe, tube, swim, fish, and do all the things most people do on rivers. It's a very long river with lots of recreational opportunities along its banks. But, having lived near it most of my life, never, never underestimate it.

Absolutely a beautiful park, nice and clean! Great for tent camping and canoeing, the river opens wide in this area. Great place for picnics as well. They have a very nice information center where you can even see a short documentary of the history of Ashe County, very interesting. A nice small museum ( great for kids) where it shows the wild life of this area. If interested in camping make sure to get in touch with the info center.
