“Peaceful”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This is not anything fancy but it is very peaceful. When you first approach the Veterans Memorial you notice the wall with the emblems of the military branches and the flags flying high. Then off to the right you notice a walkway going through some trees and over a bridge. When you cross the bridge and see the fountain you notice the panels. They seem to disappear into the background. As you get closer you notice the names engraved on those panels and you stop and notice how many panels there are, and how many names. The Beirut Memorial sits in among the trees also. On one of the walls are the names of those lost, on the other They Came In Peace. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune when I was in the Marine Corps so for me this was a special place.

Outstanding memorials and well worth one's time to visit. Also, visited the grave of my Company 1stSgt during 1951 Korea.

“They Came in Peace”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

The Memorial is an emotional and fitting tribute to service members that have given their lives for their country. The Memorial pays tribute to the Marines that gave their lives in the Beirut bombing in the 1980's and those who fought in the Vietnam Conflict. Additionally, there is also a piece of the World Trade Center embedded in concrete to remember those that died in the World Trade Center disaster. A very moving visit.
