“Great Food, Family Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2010

Great little Italian restaurant in Jacksonville. Don't let the exterior dissuade you from stopping in. The food is great: hearty Italian specialties, pizzas, sandwiches, great fresh baked bread, delicious house salad dressing, and very good desserts. The wine list is very limited unfortunately. Take-out and delivery available.

“Genuine Italian Cuisine--a hidden gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2010

We visited NC last year and ate at Pie Sano's because our friend is a friend of the owners...We were not disappointed. We started with their famous ministrone soup--homemade, hot, and delicious. The salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing was really nice...an oil and vinegar base with their secret herbs and spices. Some of the dishes served to our table included: spaghetti and meatballs, chicken, and lasagna...all were served hot and were very tasteful. The sauce, another homemade recipe, was really good and they should consider selling that separately for their customers. I should mention that the bread they serve is warm and so good--be careful not to fill up on the bread, but you will be tempted! They have a lot of locals and regulars who partake of their establishment...They are located on a side-type street and in a small strip mall, so you could miss it, if you didn't know it was there. They are very busy during the lunch hour and I believe they do a large take-out business as well. But it's worth a visit to try the Italian cuisine...well prepared, authentic, and fresh. The wait staff are all attentive and very friendly. I believe the family owned an Italian restaurant in either NYC of NJ, before relocating to Jacksonville, so they know the business very well. We will be going back to visit our friends in Jacksonville, NC this year and I know we will schedule a trip or two to Pie Sano's.

“overpriced mom & pop italian”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2010

After a friend suggested this place we gave it a try. The location is hard to get into and out of, horrible parking lot set up. We got there and waited 10 minutes to be seated because there was no hostess. We immediately decided what we wanted and ordered our meal when they finally came around to take our drink order. The food was expensive for what we got and it wasn't even cooked all the way, we got chicken parmesean and a meat lasagna and I paid extra for a side salad. We both were up all night sick from the food because it was not fully cooked and we didn't want to send it back so we only ate a few bites. The side salad was delicious, but for the cost of it, you would definitely think you'd be getting more than what was on the plate. The service was HORRIBLE! Going back to when we made our order, we sat there until our food was ready before they brought us our drinks and then never came back so that we could get a refill. The cost was more than what we would spend at an actual restaurant like Chilli's or The Outback. Very disappointing and we will NEVER go back or recommend this place to ANYONE!
