Owner description: Talk a Walk on the Wild Side at Carolina Raptor Center What will you find on your walk around the 3/4 mile Raptor Trail? Over 30 species of raptors and other birds of prey are featured on this walk on the wild side. Owls and Vultures. Hawks and Eagles. Falcons, Corvids and other species that just don't fall into any of these categories. Have you seen a Bald Eagle up close? The Raptor Trail features a nesting pair of Bald Eagles who live out back in the Eagle Aviary. Our Spectacled Owl just can't wait to tell you what she thinks about living here at CRC, but you might have to listen carefully to what she has to say - she's a shy one. Did you know that Vultures and Corvids are some of the smartest birds around. No bird brains here! Lots of human mythology surrounds both of these families of avian brainiacs. Crows have been known to drop nuts into crosswalks so that cars can crack them and then wait for the light to change and retrieve the goodies! Behind the scenes at CRC is our Raptor Hospital, where we see approximately 900 raptor patients a year (please no songbirds or possums!). If you can't make our behind the scenes tour, don't worry, the exhibit "A Day in the Life of a Raptor Hospital" will show you what goes on there - day and night.

Carolina raptor center has lots of raptors! They offer several shows, where they explain some of the birds, where do they live, what do they eat, how long they usually live, etc. This center also helps animals that have suffered any injuries and cannot live in the wild anymore. Good location, cheap tickets , good people working there. It also features few playgrounds for the children

Great facility to see birds of prey/raptors. It is also a rehab and education center. It is really neat place to go and visit. It is non-profit and well priced. It is located in Latta Park and you can make an entire day out of going to the raptor center and visiting other areas of the preserve.

If you love wildlife, this is the place to go. They specialize in birds of prey and have a nice variety of rescued birds.

An outstanding facility that my daughters keep on their must see list, despite the fact we've been going here several times a year for about 9 years.
This is a raptor rehabilitation hospital and education center. Injured or sick raptors (not to be confused with songbirds or waterfowl), are brought here by the public, animal control officers or anyone who finds them. If possible, the animals are treated, rehabilitated and released back into the wild. If the birds cannot be released once healed, they are kept on-site in a separate, multi-acre compound where the pubic can walk well-maintained trails to see and learn about these creatures. Carolina Raptor Center also does off-site educational programs at schools, and holds regular in-house programs for audiences of all ages and nature sophistication. So everyone wins. Injured animals are humanely rehabilitated and released if possible. If not, they are kept at the facility where they are used to educate the public on both the birds themselves and on the many issues facing the birds out in the wild.

HIGHLY recommended.

A rehab center for raptors, one of the very few in the country. Injured birds are brought here from all over to be given a chance to heal and return to the wild. Those that cannot are humanely exhibited for educational purposes. There is a mated pair of nesting eagles who have successfully hatched and raised young that are released. Worth a visit,
