If you want to get away and enjoy the Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee this is the place to go. Make sure you go on a clear sunny day and be prepared to travel on gravel roads to the trail head. The short hike is worth the effort to give you view of the surrounding mountains. If you have more time enjoy hiking on the Appalachian Mountain trail. Be prepared the wether can change quickly.

Take a short hike on America's most famous and hiked trail, the Appalachian Mountain Trail. A short and easy "climb" to the top of the bald gives you great 360 degree views of both the Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains

We skipped the tourist lines at the Biltmore over spring break and opted for a hike to the top...twice! So glad we did. We spent the day hiking the surrounding trails & found clearer views at the top in the afternoon when we returned to the top. Awesome to know that the Appalachian trail runs right through it!
