If you want fancy and touristy, this is not your place. If you want a chlorine free hot tub in your own private enclosure overlooking the flowing French Broad River, peace, quiet, and contemplation, then make the drive from Asheville or Knoxville. We are part time Asheville residents and make the trip to Hot Springs every time we are there to find a bit of respite and to soak away our stress. This is a rustic, small business, operated with care. There is nothing like warming yourself by the fire as you wait for your tub on a crisp winters' day.

This is the place to go to unplug, recharge, and reconnect with a significant other. The tubs were great, the massages fabulous, the people friendly, the cabins cute, and the silence amazing. The only drawback is a foam mat to sleep on in the cabin beds (I'm taking an air mattress next time). For those that complain...look Hot Springs is not New York or Las Vegas. If you want Gold Plated faucets and people that pander to your every wimper go there. If you actually want to hear yourself think and hold a conversation with the person you traveled with go to Hot Springs. The town is 650 people at best. It's one main street, a couple restaraunts, a gas station, and yes God Bless It a train! Yes, the campground gets dirty and muddy when it rains, but from most campgrounds I've stayed in that tends to happen. My Husband and I stayed for 2 days cooked out in the fire ring, talked with our neighbors, watched the dogs and kids run around and generally had a great time watching the river flow by. Maybe this isn't for everyone, but I'm going back the first chance I get.

I stayed in the Dogwood Room. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was tastefully decorated. I liked that a fridge and microwave were provided.

Visit date: Oct 3, 2011, Monday, 2:00 P. Jacuzzi and massage only.
Bang for $$...GREAT: Location: private and beautiful...5 minutes from downtown. Tubs: 5 star. Massage: 1hr-deep tissue, 5 star. Facilities: Above adequate, basic, and comfortable.
Pros: ALL jacuzzi tubs, decking, and enclosures are NEW and very private.
Quiet w/ plesant view (through trees & bamboo) of river.
Main bldg, including offices, massage facilities, restrooms, and showers (for
massage customers) are recently and completely remodeled.
All areas were clean & well kept.
Staff were plesant, knowledgeable, professional and helpful.
Cons: Short driveway from highway unpaved but well kept.
Parking area unpaved but well kept.
Parking area and paths to tubs may become muddy in wet/raining weather.
Other:
Mountain Magnolia B&B is close...magnificiently restored, 2 bdrm suite is outstanding [no TV & we left our laptops at home...no cells in dining area]...superb dining.
Iron Horse Station restaurant has good food and service, but slow.
Finally, this area is not Bedford Hot Springs Resort or Heavenly Mt.Resort. If that's what your looking for...go elswhere. Hot Springs NC is a beautiful mountain area w/ friendly folks and resonably priced quality accommodations and services. ENJOY! Remember: Massage therapists income mostly from tips....$15 not too much!!

Room Tip: If you're into B&Bs, you'll "jus luv" Mt. Magnolia B&B.

This review is of the campground only, we did not stay in the cabins or use the hot tubs. We stayed at site 543, right on the French Broad River. Would have been perfect, except for the train tracks that were in sight, & the LOUD trains that went through 3-4 times a night. This is a huge campground, & there are sites farther away from the tracks. Nice spacious site, we had two tents, a picnic table & fire ring w/grill, two cars & plenty of space. The first night there were no neighbors, so especially quiet & nice, 2nd night (Saturday) we were not so lucky. Campstore, playground, water & flush toilets were quite a walk away, but available, & there were port-o-pots a short walk from our site. (I liked that we were so far back, away from the RVs & crowds & gladly give up the convenience of indoor plumbing!) Unfortunately, because of the trains, I am not sure if I would camp here again.

Wow! I sure wish I had read some of these reviews before booking our two night camping trip to Hot Springs Resort & Spa Campground. To start with, this is the most crowded campground we have ever experienced, the prices are expensive and it is filthy!!! They try to cram in as many campers as possible which means you are bascially camping right next to your neighbors. There were probably 200 camp sites set up with only TWO bathrooms for the whole place. The bathrooms are like sheds and there was a constant line of people waiting. We went for a walk to see the river but there was no access to get to it without walking through somebody else's campsite. Trash was all over the ground. To top things off, withey decided to do a very loud fireworks display in the evening since it was Labor Day. Our dog was terrified! By the second morning of our trip, I woke up, walked to the bathroom only to find it overflowing with toilet paper and fecies! DISGUSTING. At this point, we packed up our car and left. I had enough of this place! We lost our money we had paid for the second night of the trip because there was no one at the front gate to talk too.
