I loved the Laughing Heart Lodge. My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend for 2 days. I wish we had booked 3 to 4 days! The lodge is stunning. Our room (Firefly, on the second floor) was comfortable and spacious, with a private bathroom, a rocking chair and a view to the forest/greenery. The bed was very comfortable. Many bookcases full of books to browse; places to sit and read or visit all throughout downstairs and outside. The grounds are beautiful. We sat outside for a couple of hours each evening at sunset. Everything is very peaceful.

Breakfast was yummy, with fresh fruit and homemade granola both days and a selection of breads, cereals and yogurt. The second day they also had fresh hot biscuits.

What I also loved is that the Appalachian Trail is literally steps away from the lodge. We love to hike, and we were able to do a very nice day hike by walking right out the door. When we were done, we just walked inside and showered and rested.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved it here, and I can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the hiker hostel. Laundry. Showers. Bunks. Private rooms. Nearby town with surprisingly good pizza. (At the restaurant, not the other places).

Free gear shake downs. Wonderful staff (thanks Vera).

Highly recommended b

Spent the previous night in a 500$ a night club floor room at the Brown Hotel in Louisville. it was a disappointment compared to this cute little place.
This B and B has more features and comfort than that 4 star hotel.
Debra greeted us at the door as if we were long lost family, and invited us in for a tour, and asked us to pick a room.
full access to the kitchen, and downstairs... and a full description of local restaurants and hot springs. Enjoyed the evening, thank you!

Room tip: we stayed in the Cardinal room, but they all are cute. The Cardinal is large and spacious, and overlooks the town.

The property sits on a quiet bend just out of the downtown area, very pretty view of the hills, lodge rooms are cozy, clean, cottagey and just delightful, the hosts were charming and friendly, the rooms and bathrooms are clean, beds excellent, chairs and a heater to read and watch the view in the room, (we stayed in the Cardinal room, some extra space) and a simple but tasty breakfast with fresh baked muffin and good coffee. Cannot wait to go back!

Everything about our stay was a 10!! The inn is charming, the rooms are comfortable (so much better than a hotel room), staff is welcoming/friendly, and the setting is ideal. We stayed here on an impulse....we will definitely be back!!
