Bill and Madeline run a wonderful operation here at Lower Dover Field Station. The caabins are clean and well kept. The grounds are beautifully maintained. On site they have Mayan Ruins, and very real Bush Man who knows his plants and herbal remedies. It is very easy to get to. Only a two hour bus ride in from Belize City on one of the local bus companies, which leaves you off on the main highway, where you can be picked up or walk the ten minutes to the site. It is conveniently located to many Mayan ruins in the area as well as to several national parks. Also very close to San Ignacio. If you're looking for a rustic, outdoorsy experience in the jungle that's also close to civilization this is the place to go!

If you're looking for an affordable accommodation to stay nearby jungle and wilderness to walk around for your own, then take a look at Lower Dover. For the budget-conscious traveler, it's an excellent alternative to expensive jungle resorts and hotels in the Cayo district as well as in other regions of Belize. The owners, Bill and Madeline, are very amiable and strive to make your stay as nice and comfortable as possible.
Another advantage of Lower Dover is that it is good accessible and you can get there and away easy by bus, unlike other many outlying jungle resorts that can’t reached without a car. Thus, it’s easy to do daytrips from Lower Dover to ATM, Caracol and many other places.

For me, it was definitely a stroke of luck to find Lower Dower via Internet and I highly recommend this beautiful place.

Great new unique spot to stay for the upmarket backpacker type. If you are too old for the traditional hostel and not ready for a boring hotel....or something too upmarket that will take you out of the swing and true flavor of things.

The owners Bill and Madeline are a fun expat pair that will make sure that you have a fun trip and stay at their place....they may even jump in a canoe with you!

Highly recommended.
