We know the island very well, Its not a glamorous place, just peace and quiet. Fun for walks, searching for shells and spending time on the sand and in the waves. You can rent bikes, boats, and jet ski s etc. Only a few good places to eat. No fast food, unless you drive into shallotte. I love renting our house down on Holden, because we enjoy our time together just laying around and catching the sun and building sand castles. But its close enough to just hop in the car and go on a road trip and explore the surrounding areas. Especially with Mrytle beach right down 17.
If you love to fish, you will fit right in with the local fishermen. This is the only thing I do not like, because they have their poles high up on the beach, with their lines in the water. If walking, you must walk up around them. We rent a specific house, and nothing annoys me more when a fisherman and his buds are parked right in front of the house. Our family has to walk down far from the house just to avoid them, Why cant they go to the pier. or find a space where their are no houses. Its plenty of room. I feel Holden should set certain places for fishing. Unless you rent or own the home.
