We went to Hillsborough on a Tuesday for lunch and most restaurants were closed. And so we ended up at Bandido's even though I was not in the mood for Mexican food. To my surprise it was not the gringo burritos and tacos menu smothered in a vague chili-flavored red sauce on a sea of refried beans and rice. I tried a "Rusty Rodriquez" plate that included an enchilada and taco, both stuffed with marinated chicken that was unusually flavorful. I ate it all. We sat in a small room that looks as if it were a private house at one time. On the other side of the restaurant was a large room with a long bar and lots of tables - a typical cervaza and tequila hang-out. My assumption is that at night this is a very different place, so if you are older, like us, try the lunch menu for good food, good value and good service.
