“Wonderful ice cream, inventive flavors”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Every ice cream is worth the drive, and they constantly come up with new, quirky flavors you wouldn't think you'd like till you try them. Sit in a rocker on the porch and eat an old-fashioned ice cream in a home made cone. You almost always want to take some home. If you have a way to drive they can get you a pint out of the deep freezer, which will be colder.

“Amazing Ice Cream”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

A great place to stop for an ice cream cone and to pick up some extremely fresh dairy products. They've got a huge selection of flavors to choose from, but the Carolina Crunch is my favorite. It's a beautiful location out in the country as well, but just 20 minutes outside of Durham. It's worth the drive.

“Nothin' could be finer”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Rocking in a rocking chair on the front porch of this farm's ice cream shop while delighting in a cone filled with scoops of butter pecan -- nothin' could be finer than Maple View Farms in North Carolina!

“Excellent Ice Cream & Nostalgia-Inducing View”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

My youngest daughter (and husband and two children) just moved to Chapel Hill. When we visited them they took us on a long drive out into the country to this ice cream parlor. The ice cream was excellent and everyone enjoyed his or her cone or dish of a wide assortment of flavors. But for me, the view is what will bring me back. I grew up in a village in western New York about 35 miles east of Buffalo. Looking out at the woods, cornfields, barns and cows from a rocking chair on the porch of Maple View was like being transported back home. The view was indistinguishable from the countryside where I grew up.

“It's in the Country by the Farm”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

True story. When I moved to Chapel Hill seven years ago, I heard about this ice cream place, but it's outside of town, across from a cornfield. I called to ask directions and got one of the young ladies who worked behind the counter. "Where are you located?" I asked.

"We're in the country by the farm", she informed me. I could tell by her tone that she had nothing more to add.

"Can you be a little more specific?" I asked. "You just described most of North Carolina."

The ice cream is very good. In the summer, the lines can be pretty long, but it's worth it. They also sell milk. They built the ice cream store to use their excess dairy products from the farm.

The high point, though, is the dozens of rocking chairs on the porch where you can eat your ice cream and watch the sun set over rows and rows of cornfield, cows, and barns.

Be forewarned, though, that there are only a few seats indoors for inclement weather.
